Why the Ford Mustang Emblem Faces Left
The Ford Mustang emblem faces left due to the vision of Lee Iacocca, who insisted that the galloping horse should represent a wild horse, not a domesticated racer, and thus should face left. This decision was made to emphasize the Mustang’s wild and untamed nature, rather than a symbol of a domesticated racehorse.
This left-facing emblem is a nod to the Mustang’s namesake, the North American P-51 Mustang, a multirole fighter aircraft from World War II. The emblem is meant to evoke the image of a wild horse running west, symbolizing freedom and the wide open spaces of America.
The decision to have the emblem face left was also influenced by the desire to express the Mustang’s Americanness, with the left-facing horse representing a wild horse galloping west, embodying the spirit of freedom and adventure.
So, the left-facing Ford Mustang emblem is a deliberate symbol of the Mustang’s untamed spirit and its connection to American heritage and freedom.

I mean, it depends on what vantage point you're watching a race.

This part is doubtful. Why would Ford name a car after a General Motors product? The main reason that the Merlin wasn’t in the early variants was licensing. Once the Packard division got licensing it went into the plane. ?‍♂?

During the War Ford UK was mass producing merlin engines they made around 30000, Ford USA was supposed to produce them on these shores in 1940 but Henry Ford backed out at the last moment so it went to Packard

Always interesting to run across the ‘north is up’ bias, it crosses so many domains.

Interesting. I have been working on an engraved edge lit version of the puddle light logo to hang in my garage. I flipped it over in CAD to engrave the back. Just need to remember to flip it back when putting it together.

No, but I do wonder why the speedometer says “Ground Speed” and the large screen displays “altitude”.
It’s an MME, not a P-51.

I suspect that "Ground Speed" is a reference to the Mach-E part of the name since Mach-x is typically used to denote the velocity of supersonic things, like aircraft.

Altitude is interesting for those that drive in mountains, at least to me.

And all this time I though it was a legal thing; the Ferrari horse faces right?, and Ford to keep from having a legal fight decided to have the horse running to the left, (or it does just have to pee!).
