What to do w/ 2 versions of Ford/Tesla NACS adapter?

As a result of leasing a couple Mach-E vehicles over the past few years, I've just received a second Ford/Tesla NACS adapter that is bigger and longer than a smaller adapter that I received from Ford about 7 months ago. (The two different versions are shown side by side in the attached photos). Can anyone suggest which one to use and what to do with the other one? Are they the same functionally? Thanks!

The "shorter" one was recalled for those that received it around June last year.

Your larger adapter should have come with a return label to ship the shorter unit back to Ford.

Yes, the short Tesla recalled ones were shipped around June.

Check your spam/junk email folders for the notice from Ford around October..

These larger adapters are made by Lectron.

Thanks for the picture! I was trying to see the two adapters side by side to see which one I got today. I got the Lectron (left).

@4sallypat I wasn't aware you can tell the recall from non recall version of the Tesla adapter by sight. What are the "tells"? I thought the serial number date code was the only way to tell based on other posts here?

My recalled one was replaced with an identical looking one with a different model number, and when I called Ford to confirm, they said it was just the ones in a specific window of time with specific model numbers that were problematic. I didn't get a Lectron one, and AFAIK everything should be fine.

I contacted Ford by email and actually got an immediate response:

"If you had a recalled adapter, you would have been notified. A very small quantity were recalled."

There are two designs, performance ratings they are equivalent, but usability wise the new Ford Fast Charging Adapter wins my vote every time. The new Ford Fast Charging Adapter is also the version that will be available for purchase.

Not all adapters of the first design were part of the replacement program, just some units shipped in the US during June. If you didn't get notified that yours was one, you're good. All adapters shipping today in the US are the new design.

Thanks. Happily I have no plans to get another NACS adapter. I'd much rather spend my money elsewhere...
