I don't think there's been any information about whether or not preconditioning will be possible. I'm not expecting it, but I wouldn't totally take it off the table. Apple and Ford have obviously worked together on integration for sharing battery calculations, so it's certainly feasible that they would work together to implement preconditioning for fast chargers.

Apple, get with the program. The future is mfg. integration with their EV's.

Get together with vehicle mfg. and get this figured out.
Preconditioning via Carplay is a must!

Having Tesla chargers in Apple Maps is helpful, but why can't we also get battery preconditioning?
Its apple's business model. They want you to buy the apple car, then the apple charger, to get the apple preconditioning en route to an apple charger. Come to the freedom of android!

It’s an Apple issue. They supposedly have privacy concerns. Privacy concerns with sharing the phone’s location with the car. The car that the phone is in. That car.

I see in the news today that some idiot thinks it’s a good idea to set Tesla chargers on fire!
I saw that - beautiful picture! Mind you, while I’m an enthusiastic supporter of peaceful protest, I’d never condone property vandalism or destruction. On the other hand, if Tesla SuperChargers are now spontaneously combusting, I’m not going to be sad.

True, but it could be done by the car simply asking how far it is until the charge station, rather than specific location. Apple and the auto manufacturers need to get together to hammer out something that is acceptable to both and implement the feature. Oh, maybe that could create a new communication protocol. ??

I don't think that the "cooperation" is there. This isn't about a "communication protocol". It is about trust. Apple doesn't trust your car with that information.

Here is how I see the problem. With Android Auto you tell it "I trust XXX App with my location". With Apple they say "we will look at each entity that needs to know this information and only allow it for the ones we trust".

So, with Apple, each manufacture of a car would have to go through some kind of certification with Apple to get access to that information, instead of just trusting the user to approve it.
