Am I the only one who thinks the cargo cover, while flimsy and cheap-looking on first encounter, is actually a fairly clever bit of kit? I like that it lifts up with the hatch; very convenient. I had a traditional roll-away type in my last Infiniti and I consider the Mach-E’s a superior solution.
Yup, you might be the only one. I hate the Mach-e stock cargo cover. I drive with the windows down all the time and it flaps around everywhere, usually detaching from the mounting points at the same time. I can only put mine on in the winter when I know I won't be putting the windows down at highway speeds.

I'd call it a good design if it stayed in place at speed while still raising and lowering with the rear hatch. Seems like a complete cost cutting design to me, it's likely way cheaper than the retractable covers that every other SUV and hatchback has used for the last 20 years.

What usually happens is say you've got a box in the boot which isn't even up to the top level of the rear seats, as the hatch closes the edge of the flimsy cargo cover points downwards at some stage below the level of the top of the box. As the hatch closes further the edge of the cargo cover catches on the box and it gets pulled off the mounting points. I have to resort to holding the cargo cover up while the hatch closes so it clears any boxes and at the same time withdrawing my arm before the hatch closes. Sometimes it detaches when I'm holding the cargo cover up. What a stupid design.

I suppose I could detach and take out the cover completely but that's not the point. It's not fit for purpose.

I know from personal experience that the Mazda CX5 rolled up cover was superior in every way. It could be rolled up out the way or easily detached completely when rolled up by releasing spring catches. It was attached to the hatch lid like the Mach-E. There is a YouTube video out there about it. See here

I note that the new electric European Ford Explorer uses the same flimsy cargo cover.

Here are some interior shots from the press footage showing some of the new features, particularly a totally new instrument cluster UI with new fonts. Looks like the power/regen meter will always be shown in the right side. Speedometer will be slightly offset to the right, which should help calm down the complaints from some people about the wheel blocking it. Main screen UI looks the same. There will be a passthrough from the center console into the new cubby for a phone cable. The turn signal stalk will now be much larger with all the wiper functions integrated. Red stitching comes with the Sport Appearance Package on the Premium trim.

I wonder why these companies did not include dash cams like Tesla.
I have a GM Silverado RST order, and I am about to give up because they removed the Apple Car Play (I drove the WT, and it is equipped). These small things make all the difference for me.

Yes, consensus is if you have the steering wheel tilt adjusted traditionally so the wheel is pointed at your shoulders, you should be able to see the entire cluster. I've learned there is a subset of people that have the column tilt adjusted down so far the top of the wheel is blocking most of the cluster except the very center. Apparently for various reasons they are not able adjust the wheel upwards slightly to fix their view of the cluster, and insist on having the speedometer in the very center of the display at all times.

The 12V port has been moved left and I can see an outline of something, so I'm going to go with "Yes, they added USB port in the center console." The previous USB ports are still there.

I've given up hope on the Ford wireless charger, and I'm much happier with a MagSafe pad now. But hopefully they give the wireless charger an upgrade so it's more of a phone charger than phone heater.

According to Donna we will get some of those details. At least kW rate, not sure how much else. Volts and amps would be great.
Should be a simple software update to have older models with the same feature.

Should.

The module nightmare in legacy manufacturer cars is a bit of a millstone that makes all this stuff harder than it should be.

OK, here's one not mentioned: You can get heated AND COOLED seats on premium trim level seats. Not GT, not Select, no other trims.

OK interwebs, feel free to post your 1 positive comment and 1000 negative ones about this. Thanks in advance.

The only possible downside I see in the 2025s @RonTCat is the smaller frunk. Not having seen it yet I don’t even know that for certain, or if its reduced size will actually impact my use in any meaningful way. In any event, it’s extremely likely that my use of the frunk is an edge case anyway. Most folks rarely open the things after getting them.

Overall I think the changes are a good thing.

I’m so glad they removed the wheel gear. I hate that so much.

It looks like "ground speed" was removed. This is good because air speed is what's truly important.
Too bad. The ground speed designation is one of my favorite silly things about this car. The pony puddle lamps and vroom vroom noises being the other two.

I wonder if there's a USB port in the center console, or if it's only 12V power like we currently have.
I'm pretty sure USB in the center console was a thing on the '24... Itt's there on the '25, and you can see it in the pictures posted here. 5th picture that has the added arrow pointing to the cable pass-through. The USB ports are next to the 12V under the arm rest.

The charging pad is supposed to be updated for the 25 model. I don't have high hopes though as Ford's wireless charging pads have been unusable in every Ford we've owned. To be fair, this is pretty much par for the course from all the major car manufacturers. The cheapest Qi charger from Temu or AliExpress work perfectly, but the ones they put in $50K+ cars barely work at all.
