I only learned about the Mach e in December but 2 days after first reading about it, I placed an order for one. Then I was fortunate enough to get to drive one on New Years Ever. LOVED the car. But I don't even have a build date for mine and I doubt I would get the car before late Summer if I have to wait. But I found a car through the tracker that was going to go a a local dealer and its been "in production" for weeks. Well, this morning, the car switch to "awaiting shipment." So I called the dealership this morning and after looking in to it, they called back and said it is not spoken for and they are willing to hold it for me. Exact same car that I ordered. Said it should be here by end of February. I just need to confirm that they are going to honor the X Plan pricing that the other dealership promised to offer. The dealerships are in the same family so I don't think it will be an issue.

It's probably worth double checking with the dealer that it's not an FCTP vehicle. Some dealers don't seem to be aware that they aren't allowed to sell those right away. If it's a customer-cancelled order or if they were able to get a stock order in, you should be good.

I'm going in tomorrow but they already told me that the care wasn't spoken for and that they would hold it for me. That supposedly came from one of the managers but I'll find out for sure tomorrow.

There was a news article about a dealer selling an FCTP Bronco Sport, and then asked to take it back on Christmas Eve. The buyer didn't budge, and got news media involved. Ford corporate stepped in and made sure the customer could keep the car.

Maybe the gist of the story is to pretend that you don't know, and then play hard ball with the dealer. :p

@Dangerfish, if you use the tracker link on the forum and put in the VIN number, you should be able to see the original customer's last name if it's a customer cancelled order. I'm not sure what customer name FCTP cars get.

FCTP will likely have a low VIN number, i.e. the last 4 digits would be less than 3500 or so.

Well dang, maybe it is FCTP. There is no customer name on the tracker and the last 4 are less than 3500. We'll just have to see what happens.

Congrats! I hope you are able to work out a deal and take it home! Talk about lucky! The only requirement is that you upload plenty of pics when you get it!

Just look up the VIN on the tracker page. The VINs for most Mach-E including the FCTP cars are at places like cars.com and autotrader.com. Ford auto lists them for some reason, even though you cannot buy an FCTP car when it arrives.

If the Group Order Type is something like Stock (222S) (OBC8T), apparently the "S" "T" combination being operative, it is probably a FCTP demo, not available for sale until some number of demo miles (4,000?)

Before I was reading threads here, one of my nearby dealers said exactly the same thing, the 4EX was mine, they even took my credit card number for the deposit. Then, maybe they could not sell it, then, would I like them to place an order for me ...

The ones that start with "R" (retail) are apparently the ones they can sell new right away, either ordered by them, or a canceled special order.

Well, crap. Guess I didn’t get lucky. That’s what it shows on the tracker page. You’d think the sales manager would know that. I’ll probably still drive out and see them anyways. You never know what ends up happening.

There have been reports of some special dealers that have been allowed to place some stock orders I’m addition to their FCTP. So all hope is not lost.

Mine shows up as stock because of the way the dealership ordered it. I moved from my online Premium order to a FE before the Mach Drop stuff. So, you may get lucky if they ordered it for someone and they backed out. Good luck!

... I'm not sure what customer name FCTP cars get.
The FCTP form I have been following is blank for customer name, the dealership tab is filled in.

Hopefully it is one of the dealers who ordered extra for stock!

Another clue might be to just look at the Mach-E listings for that dealer on autotrader.com. If there is only one Mach-E, it is probably a FCTP demo, if there are more, maybe you did get lucky. Anyway you should know soon. Good luck! Let us know.

If it were me.....I would look up all the VINs from that dealer's inventory. If you see more than one vehicle listed as Stock then go check out that car. As best as I understand.....they only need one FCTP vehicle. All the others can sell.

For example. Run this VIN.
3FMTK3SUSMMA02459
First Edition Carbonized Gray.
That car shows as Stock. Should arrive at the dealership in about 3 or 4 weeks. The dealer will be allowed to sell that car as soon as it's prepped.
It was NOT a customer car that the customer backed out. It was dealer ordered as a stock vehicle.
Fact.

Customer name is blank on FCTP and all other Stock orders from what I have seen.

So here is the update. I’m at the dealership and I’m leaving a $500 deposit. They told me the car MAY be a service vehicle but they won’t know till it arrives. They said they have 2 en route and they don’t know which will be their loaner. So, I just have to wait a few weeks to find out for sure. They are honoring X Plan pricing and have already told me what that price will be. Infinite Blue EX.
