My Ford Options balloon payment is due next month. I visited a ford dealership and got some numbers related to leasing a 2025 Mach E.

For the Mach E Premium that I am interested in, the MSRP is $52,740. The employee discount drops that down to $49,953.

Should the Residual calculation be based on MSRP or the cost of the Total Cap Reduction which would be a further $6,000 that Ford is offering for a lease? That would be $43,953.

Residual is calculated based on MSRP. It is set by Ford Credit and not a negotiable number.

Any incentives or discounts you negotiate will reduce your monthly payments. Residual is set by Ford Credit and not negotiable. Although I think if you get the Lifetime Bluecruise, the option price (~$2500) is dedicated from the residual. If you decide to purchase the car, the total cost will be total payments + residual + buyout fees (~$600 iirc).

I leased one yesterday if anyone wants to see the deal sheet. The 24 month money factor is only .24% vs 1.73% for the 36 and 39 month leases. Residual value is fixed at .56 of MSRP and is not negotiable. The lease cash for my deal was $6500 and we got the free charger.

This is what I did with my MY23 lease. Got one that had the 3 year blue cruise package, because it was an option it made the lease ~$30/month more than an identical mach e without the 3 year blue cruise option, rather than being like $60-75/month or whatever it was if I paid for blue cruise monthly instead. Found it kind of funny that the cost of the 3 year subscription option was priced into the residual even though the option expires the same time as the lease is up.

Here are my lease sheets and the basics of my deal. 25 Mach E Premium RWD LR. MSRP was $49,680. I negotiated employee pricing minus the junk dealer doc fees and arrived at $47,161. Then we switched to a lease to take advantage of the $6500 lease cash. I chose a 24 month term with 12k miles since it had the lowest money factor of .24. We put no money down other than the $6500 rebate. The residual was .56 based on the MSRP with 24 mos and 12k miles. The lease itsellf includes a $695 aquistion fee (this is a separate junk fee for leases) and a $495 disposition fee IF you don't buy the car at the end of the lease. Dealers will often waive this fee if you buy or lease another vehicle from them. Any miles over 24,000 will be charged at .20 cents per mile. Be careful as some dealers try to jack this figure up. Again, dealers will often waive miles over if you buy another car from them at the end of the lease. Finally, we got the free charger with installation.

Keep in mind your taxes will be different based on your location.

Isn't that a really low price for a 25 Premium LR? I thought they are at least $50k

not really. 2025s are cheaper in general and mine is a RWD. Lots of them available well Under $50k.

why are they cheaper?
Ford lowered the MSRP on the 2025 (and then increased them again this month due to tariffs). But even the new higher price is lower than the original 2024 prices I believe.

Any 2025s on the lot now or ordered before May should have the original lower pricing.

When we priced 2024's vs 2025's a month ago (this was when the very first 2025's hit dealer lots), the 2025's were significantly cheaper than the 2024's due to the lower pricing of the 2025's and the incentives that were available at that time. YMMV so make sure you compare. IMO the 2025 would be the way to go.
