Had a weird situation yesterday/today. Driving kids around yesterday and around noon (central time) FordPass stopped updating. Range, battery level, odometer, even tire pressure and location were all stuck. I plugged in overnight to charge and that didn’t even register in FordPass. I did get the amber light on my mobile charger but the battery was still charged overnight, but I think that’s unrelated.

anyway, this morning it still wasn’t updating almost 20 hours later. I turned settings off/on in the connectivity settings and nothing fixed it. So I pulled the 7.5A dual fuse in spot 21/22 in the body control module fuse box under the glovebox. This is the fuse for the gateway module, instrument panel, and HVAC controls. clicking of relays and humming of modules turning off/on ensued. I turned the car on and the FordPass app immediately updated.

now the only oddity is FordPass has the climate settings showing in Celsius, yet my HVAC is very clearly set to Fahrenheit.

In the Ford Pass app, go to "Account" (symbol of the person in the upper right corner). Choose "Account Information" then, under Units of Measure, "Temperature" and set it to Fahrenheit.

Thank you! Didn’t know about those setting. Would never have guessed that setting was independent of the car. Up until this incident the remote climate controls had always been in Fahrenheit and I know I have never touched these settings. Truly bizarre.

Had a similar issue with my 2023 mache. Took to the dealer service and they fixed it took me 15 days to get appointment and get fix 1 full day.. what an irony. Did not know we can do this.

Another thanks for figuring this out.

Just an update. It happened again yesterday. 15 days after the first incident. Pulled the fuse again, put it back, powered on the car and FordPass updated. I’ll be scheduling a service appointment with my local dealer soon.

Curious what your long term fix was. This has happened to me twice now.

I haven’t experienced this issue since then. I did have some updates done as part of an unrelated TSB a few months ago though so I’m not sure if there’s been a fix applied or not.

Think of the gateway module as a router on your home internet service. Inexpensive black plastic box that was plugged into the 120V outlet on your wall months/years ago. It NEVER gets unplugged and is expected to run 24/7/365. And even if/when it isn't in use, it still doesn't turn off and then subsequently reboot the next time it is needed. Rather it might occasional go into sleep/hibernation mode. (think laptop or pc)

Sometimes it just needs to be rebooted. A full reboot. Just like that router at home.
The fuse removal is unplugging it from the wall.

You shouldn't have to do it often, of course.
You also could just "reset" it with Forscan. Or you could disconnect the 12V battery negative cable, which would reboot all 40+ black plastic modules in the car. ?

I personally think the battery cable approach is something I would always try before taking the car to the dealership for any "glitch" that occurs or is occurring. Reboot before calling IT support, if you know what I mean.

We've had our MME for over 2 years(25,000 miles) and have never pulled any fuses or disconnected the battery. It hasn't been to a dealer since purchase also. It sounds like our car is an oddball.
