I'm wondering if anyone else has run into this. It's not consistent but kicks in sometimes. I have had two scenarios in which my Mach E is in Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering (ACC/LC, what used to be call Hands-on BlueCruise) but still will change lanes for me. In both cases I have been driving in BC Hands-Free but the car chooses to disengage and switch to ACC/LC.

The two scenarios:
  1. Above 80 mph limit, switches from BC to ACC/LC
  2. Driving in curving section, switches from BC to ACC/LC
I first ran into #1 just after receiving the OTA to BC 1.3. I might have been in a hurry to get home. As we know, BC has an ~80mph limit.

I just ran into #2 yesterday in part of the I-495 Capital Beltway near the exit to I-270. This is a curvy area and I was using the accelerator to keep my speed up around 60 mph in an area where BC has a much slower recommended speed (50mph I think?). The car actually told me a lane change was possible. I used the turn signal to move from the clogged center lane to the outside (right) lane, and the car automatically changed lanes for me.

These aren't the only times this has happened but yesterday's event made me think to bring this up for discussion.

What both scenarios have in common is
  1. Blue Cruise was engaged and operating.
  2. I used the accelerator to keep the speed above the BC limit.
  3. BC auto-disengaged. The screen changed color from the deep blue BC mode to the normal screen on the IPC. I was controlling my steering with the steering wheel as I should have been.
  4. The car changed lanes for me when my only added input was the turn signal. I was still keeping the speed up with the accelerator and applying steering pressure but could feel the steering wheel move as the car changed lanes. I didn't resists the car's lane change.
Is this a feature or a bug? I think of it as a feature but some might consider it to be a bug because the car is executing the lane change when not in HF mode.

My car does this. It has nothing to do with manipulating the accelerator, though. I rarely touch the accelerator while cruise control is on. About the only time I do is when someone has slowed down in front of me to exit, and my car takes a long time to start resuming speed after the other car is no longer in front. That's not relevant to the lane changing feature, though.

Yes mine will give me lane change assist anytime I'm in a hands free blue zone, even if you're not using hands free. So if you go over 80, or if it's just not going hands free for whatever reason, lane change assist remains active.

A hands free zone ends on the highway by my house and hands free will turn off and it's several hundred feet after that until lane change assist also goes away.

Yes, a lane change is available anytime you see the left and right arrows, regardless of being in handsfree mode or not. They will only show up in Blue Zones (mapped freeways) however.

Ahh, didn’t notice the little arrows. I just figured it worked in BC zones if it otherwise wasn’t activated.

Yes- auto cruise and lane keeping are Blue Cruise lite. Here out West in the big empty spaces, I cruise at 80+ mph and lane changing with a nudge to the blinker stalk works fine. Just keep a hand on the wheel.

For me I also needed a BC subscription for auto lane change to appear--even with copiliot.
