I'm wondering if anyone else has run into this. It's not consistent but kicks in sometimes. I have had two scenarios in which my Mach E is in Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering (ACC/LC, what used to be call Hands-on BlueCruise) but still will change lanes for me. In both cases I have been driving in BC Hands-Free but the car chooses to disengage and switch to ACC/LC.
The two scenarios:
I just ran into #2 yesterday in part of the I-495 Capital Beltway near the exit to I-270. This is a curvy area and I was using the accelerator to keep my speed up around 60 mph in an area where BC has a much slower recommended speed (50mph I think?). The car actually told me a lane change was possible. I used the turn signal to move from the clogged center lane to the outside (right) lane, and the car automatically changed lanes for me.
These aren't the only times this has happened but yesterday's event made me think to bring this up for discussion.
What both scenarios have in common is
The two scenarios:
- Above 80 mph limit, switches from BC to ACC/LC
- Driving in curving section, switches from BC to ACC/LC

What both scenarios have in common is
- Blue Cruise was engaged and operating.
- I used the accelerator to keep the speed above the BC limit.
- BC auto-disengaged. The screen changed color from the deep blue BC mode to the normal screen on the IPC. I was controlling my steering with the steering wheel as I should have been.
- The car changed lanes for me when my only added input was the turn signal. I was still keeping the speed up with the accelerator and applying steering pressure but could feel the steering wheel move as the car changed lanes. I didn't resists the car's lane change.
