My seat just ripped? 22 Premium AWD X --just out of warranty.

Well, my 22 premium AWD with 31k on it ....the stupid vegan seats just ripped where the perforations are. What has everyone done to resolve this ever occurring issue? I'm out of Warranty due to age of the car. Warranty expired at the end of June 2025.

Ford had my car for 7 months developing the TSB for the front sensors (The translucent green tape Fix) These certainly would have ripped before the warranty was up had I been using the car. F my luck....

Take it in and see if they can get Ford to “goodwill” the fix.

Get sheepskin seatcovers.

Pictures would help. If it is a small rip, it might be an easy fix, either DIY or with a good auto upholstery shop. Some of the uphostery experts are pretty good at making those things disappear with minimal fuss.

Mine are doing the same thing as are many others. Ford will not do anything under warranty. Some folks repaired with super glue. There are a couple of chains here. search for
“Tear” in Driver’s Seat Upholstery - Recommendations?

I've got the same car as yours. Mine also has a few small tears between the perforations that appeared a little after 36,000 miles.

I've been living with it, but yeah, I was frustrated when I first saw it happening... I've never had this happen on any other car I've ever owned.

Someday when it bothers me enough - or gets bad enough - I'll take it to an upholstery shop.

Vegan leather options on any car suck universally. Just have the option for leather, or a nice neoprene. The amount of true vegans who actually care is probably an extremely small %.

There are plenty of examples on this forum already.


here is an example that took exactly 4 seconds to look up. IF you look carefully you will see many smaller tears between the perforations as well as the larger one. This is one of many identical examples of this happening on the premium seats.

Noticed the side panel on my driver’s seat breaking down at under 30,000 miles. I got some really good-looking covers with nice side bolstering. Pissed off, but I’m letting it go.

Sometimes they only partially pay for the repair, but other times 100%. Unless it's just normal wear and tear of damage from an outside influence. Then it wouldn't have been covered under the 3 year warranty as well.

I think it's called Richmond Auto upholstery has Mach-e premium seats in the vegan or real leather replacements don't remember if I originally saw them on eBay or where

Did you ask your dealer to request "Goodwill" for the repair from Ford? What was the reason they gave for denying any assistance?
