Interesting that "navigate" is conspicuously missing from this announcement. The in-vehicle Public Charging app was the only way to locate compatible Tesla SCs, which at least you could then save and use in the navi. Ford has taken us a step back to searching for SC locations somewhere else...
I was literally in the process of looking for a charger on the navi Wednesday morning when the change occurred. I couldn't understand why the charger I had just searched for disappeared.
2021 J1 here also. Been using a USB thumb drive almost exclusively for four years. Occasionally the system will complain it can't read the media but a unplug /replug usually fixes it. I did have one USB drive fail completely, but that was a write issue (the car coukd still read the thumb drive...
The issue is there are many modules which can be updated, and not all model years (or even model variants) need the same updates. I guess they could push "empty" to updates to cars that don't actually have anything to update so things are common to all vehicles....
Inside FordPass (if you're lucky and it was within the past 60 days). There's also a link somewhere on the Fird website you can check, if I recall correctly.
If you have an OBDII scanner, you can see what the HVB's state of health. Unless the car was really abused with lots of wide open throttle and DCFC, it's probably fine. There are threads on here with owners above 100k miles and no battery issues.
That's great, but when you get your car back check here again. You would not be the first to have the car "completely updated" with only work that can be billed to Ford.
