I am looking at getting the 2023 Mach E Premium AWD. I live in Chicago and have a garage to plug in and keep warm in the winter. Looking for any advice or issues that people have had thus far with the 2023. Additionally, I am trying to decide if I should get the standard battery or the extended range battery. I drive about 14 miles each way to and from work. So not a big issue there. I fly when traveling so likely not going to drive more than 200 miles on any single trip. I found the price difference currently is $2000.00 so not a big difference.

Thank you in advance.

Why is the price difference only $2000? Are they offering a bigger discount on the ER battery?

For $7000, I'd go with the SR. But for $2000, I'd go with the ER.

I went with an AWD SR because the AWD was only $3k more but the ER battery was $7k more. I have similar driving habits as you except that I will do short- to medium-range strips in the car and I don't mind stopping to charge every 150-175 miles or so. The bladder can't handle much more, anyway. Discounts have increased since I purchased, but I'm not seeing anywhere you can get an ER for only $2k more than an SR... unless you're buying used and the person selling the ER is giving you a much better deal.

Had both (2021 RWD SR and 2022 AWD ER). Vastly prefer the ER.

There are places just at the edge of the SR range that would force me to detour + charge but with the ER... I'd have no need to charge nor worry. My order of preference would be AWD ER, RWD ER, RWD SR, AWD SR. For $2K extra go with the ER.

There are two ford dealerships near me. One has a SR AWD premium for $52,295 MSRP so when giving the taxes and fees and discounts it comes to $54,095. A different dealership that has an ER AWD premium for $59,295 MSRP and they are selling it at $54,045 so when computing the taxes and fees it comes to $56,095.

Sounds like a no-brainer then. For only $2k more, get the ER - assuming there are no other differences between the two cars that matter to you. That's what I would've done, had the option been available to me for that price at the time.

No brainer. Charging past 80% on a road trip crawls like a freaking dial up modem. And in the winter when it’s really cold you can loose 30 percent of that range. And you’ll loose a few percentage points of range with every year or two of ownership.

Not to sound redundant, but go with the flow, go ER. We have the AWD SR and love it, but if I had been presented with that difference in cost, 100% would have gone ER.

1. Unless you think that there are benefits aside from faster acceleration, why go with AWD given that range is reduced with AWD?
2. I have a 2023 Premium, standard range, that was delivered Dec 28, 2022. At the time, the price for ER was $8600. I went with standard range because I wanted to stay under the price cap for the $7500 tax credit and I also thought the ER battery price too high. All that has changed now with Ford's pricing changes and the new tax credit rules.
3. The ER will give you more peace of mind. If me, I'd skip the AWD, unless you have no choice. Hopefully, you can still get the $3750 tax credit, with both AWD and ER or at least with ER.

I have a '23 AWD ER with a build date of June '23. Got it in August and have ~1200 miles on it. So far it's been flawless. Wood anyone? ;)

Apparently you've never been in Chicago in Jan. I'm not far from there and AWD can be very beneficial in the snow or ice we get around here.

I was thinking that as I was writing you from South Carolina!
