Which $30k Kia would it be confused with? lol.
One of these is a $115k Lotus. One of these is a $24k Kia Seltos.

But if that’s not enough, I said in post #1 what Kia it looks even more like.

These don't look remotely similar! The C-pillar designs are completely different.

I think it looks like the ICE Chevy Blazer

My first thought was that it looked like a Kia.

Hmmm, ok. Agree to disagree I guess.

Try showing the photo of the Lotus with the grill blocked to 1,000 people and see if even 1 guesses it’s a $115k car, let alone a Lotus.

You will get a lot of “Kia, Ford, Chevy, Subaru……..insert $30k crossover” guesses though.

The profile shot is just a generic crossover looking thing.

But that's part of the problem, isn't it? I don't fully understand why so many of these companies are making their first BEV a crossover. It's probably easier to design, given the battery pack, but Tesla's first cars were not crossovers (heck, the first Roadster used a Lotus Elise chassis!), and Porsche did not start with a Macan-style vehicle, but the Taycan, which looks very much like a Porsche (better than the ICE versions, in my opinion). Lucid also did it right with the Air being a nice sedan-style vehicle; their second vehicle, the upcoming Gravity will be SUV-style.

Are people really clamoring for crossovers? I don't think crossovers were ever the best-looking vehicles on the road, and at this point it really feels a bit overdone.

I don't disagree with the notion that if I'm spending six figures on a vehicle, especially from a luxury brand, it had better look sleek. This just doesn't look special.

Definitely agree.

The why is simple- crossovers are the highest selling vehicles today.

The problem (I posted this article on another thread) is there are 45 new electric crossovers coming out over the next few years.

Everyone is going after the same target market………there will be blood.

Lotus should have built an electric coupe. Know your audience……

Bjorn extensively tested the Lotus Eletre. Charging is incredible. He speaks very positively of this car which is significant given how nitpicky he is.

Test drove one this morning. Of course it's a great car. However I wasn't loving the layout of the screens and the various steering wheel controls. Got to give Ford credit - I feel like their design is simple and straightforward and even better with all the updates they've done. Of course it is a Lotus so if I get one I'll just have to get used to it!

Nice! Great photo. What did you like/dislike about the Eletre on your test drive besides the screen layouts? How will they provide servicing in view of the scarcity of Lotus dealerships nationwide?

Beautiful car and color. But Lotus and electric does not mix well historically. I'll wait a generation or 3 before trusting Lotus.

Some likes: Backseat has tons of space - very comfortable. The roof and rear window have auto tinting glass. The rear spoiler is super cool - it is automatic depending on speed. And of course it's beautiful ?. Some dislikes: No one pedal driving. Lots of nooks and crannies for debris to get stuck in. You can't adjust the bass/treble instead it comes with three preset sound types. Have to click into a couple of menus to get the external camera view (kind of like original Mach E screen before they moved it to top of the screen).

I asked about service. He said they have a technician that is EV trained and also works on the ICE cars. He's amazing... So, yeah, one tech. Hope he doesn't leave ?. The dealership is about an hour away. He said they would provide pick up and a loaner car. But agree it would be a concern for sure....

Curious how/where you test drove one. Reading articles they aren’t supposed to hit the US until mid next year.

Also curious how it drove (speed, handling, ride quality)?

Just seen 2 this week on the road. Really not that attractive and looks a lot like a Nissan at first glance. I’m disappointed as I thought it looked cool in the videos.
