What?? REALLY??? I have the Uniden R8 also, upgraded from my older R7.

I have a Georgia PeachPass (headlight pass) installed now

This doesn't make sense in my case..strange!

I do have the MachE Sport Appearance Package, do you think that may be my problem with a metalized windshield? I'm puzzled now...
From the limited research I have done, it appears that the Mach E models with the glass roof, may have the windshield with IRR capabilities along with the roof glass, to help prevent excessive heat inside of the car. From what I see, those cars should have an "IRR" label, or lettering on the right side corner of the windshield.

It appears that models without the glass roof may not have this type of windshield. Mine does not have the glass roof, and I do not see any markings on the windshield that would indicate that it has the IRR feature. It also appears that windshields that do, can block IR signals and prevent transponders, and maybe even radar detectors from functioning as well. I hope this helps.

Exactly right, thank you. I have the glass roof. But if I had a choice I’d take the radar detector. That’s the only thing that bugs me, but after 9 mo. I’ve learned to live without it. Just another thing to worry about getting stolen. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, my daily commute is about 80 miles or so, depending on which way I go, and have driven almost 11K miles since December. The 3 channel dash cam saved me from a potential insurance scam in my other car a while back, so I believe in them (as well as a good detector)! You can see the rear facing camera in the mirror's reflection. I had to get a little creative with mouting that one inside of the car, as I did not want to mount it to the glass and have the cable exposed enough to flex with the rear hatch opening.

I used a piece of 1/16" x 1" aluminum flat metal bent to a 90, and inserted it through a carefully cut (and cauterized) slit in the headliner material. Camera (of course) is mouted to that. Just painted it black to match the interior, and all you can see is the camera, and about an inch or so of the connection cable as it loops back towards the aluminum bar. I hated to do that, but it came out pretty clean, and is positioned well. I realize this isn't related to the original post, but thought I'd share.
Nice! I put a 2 channel FitcamX in mine front and rear. Best dash cam ever…the iPhone app is fantastic

Not sure that’s conclusive as I have a 2025 without a glass roof and my Escort works great. I also have a 2026 with a glass roof and it works. Toll tags work in both too.

I accomplished the mission…here is my write up!

2026 Mustang Mach-E Premium
Parts
Radar Detector -> Escort Max 360c
Mount -> BlendMount BMG-2001R and the Escort Suction Cap
Wiring -> MirrorTap MTX-1015

  1. Follow instructions included with the BlendMount to reuse the magnet from the Escort Suction Cup Mount
  2. Remove the Mirror Wiring Cover -> for orientation, the rear of the cover is nearest the back of the vehicle. The front of the cover is nearest the front of the vehicle. Left side is driver. Right side is passenger. Start by working your finger between the cover and roof material of the back left corner of the cover until that clip releases. Then work your way along the rear edge towards the right side of the cover releasing two additional clips on the rear edge on right side of the mirror. Work the towards the front on right edge to release an additional clip on right side of the mirror before crossing back to left side of the mirror stem to release the final clip. The mirror cover comes off and down to hang on the mirror stem. That exposes the wiring.
  3. MirrorTqp Wiring -> relevant wiring harness is located at right rear corner. See photo. Red/Positive wire goes in the Purple slot and Block/Negative goes in the black slot. Route the wiring towards the mirror stem before putting the mirror cover back on essentially in reverse order of removal.
  4. BlendMount -> follow the instructions provided with the product. Adjust to your visual preference. Works easiest if installed from the passenger seat vs driver seat. Just more physical room to work given the mirror orientation towards the driver.

Just curious if your 26 has the IRR letters/label in the corner of your windshield? If so, please post a pic. Nice write up, by the way!

The 2026 does have the IRR letters. See photo. What does the IRR designation mean?

IRR = vehicle windows or windshields manufactured with an Infrared Radiation (IRR) rejecting coating or interlayer.

The owners manual says:

Install any devices that use radio frequency identification, for example, toll readers or vehicle identification cards, to the specified area on the windshield. That area is the shaded area either side of the rear view mirror.

Goes on to say, The remainder of the windshield has a coating that prevents the device from working properly.
