I’ve used one Tesla destination charger and it wasn’t free. IIRC it was $0.25/kw. Are there destination chargers that ARE free or do they all charge?
Ok, we charged at a free 50 kw charger in Oklahoma and right next to it are tesla chargers. They are distination chargers I assume since they said tesla only on PS and are 150kw. I tried it but because it didn't come up on the app I couldn't charge even tho the adapter fit fine, I probably didn't leave it long enough to see if it would have charged under Ford charge at the full rate.

If you do the math, it really doesn't take very long.

Assume you arrive at the hotel with 10%. You charge to 100% overnight, getting 90% of the 91kWh battery. 82kWh.

Assume a fast charging cost of 48 cents per kWh. That charge was $39.31. AND, you saved sitting at a charger for 30 to 40 min, plus the ability to have 100% in the morning, plus the ability to precondition in cold weather.

Adapter cost:

$109 at Amazon. Rated for 48amps

$92 direct from A2Z. Rated for 80amps. Use code FORDFORUM.
Just ordered one.

I think you’re not understanding that there are two different adapters - one for DC fast charging and a different one for AC level 1+2 charging. The “Destination” chargers are the ones that you find at hotels and some other spots in towns like restaurant parking lots. They look like a level 2 charger that you might have installed in your garage - a plastic Tesla box on a post with cords. For those, you need a charge adapter that is relatively small. The tall white charge stations that you find on the side of the highway are DC fast chargers that require a bigger adapter. The two are not interchangeable. Some of those, like the one that Plug Share listed as “for Tesla only,” do not work with adapters at all. They are either older version 2 Tesla chargers or they are located at a site that Tesla has designated as only for Tesla charging.

The Tesla cords look the same at the plug end on the Fast DC and the slower AC Destination chargers. The adapters will fit on either of those plugs but, again, they are NOT interchangeable. The pins inside are different. So, while a Tesla Supercharger to MME CCS plug will fit onto the Tesla Destination charger cord, it will not work because of the different pin arrangements in the adapter.

I'm assuming I ordered the one thqt will allow me to charge at a L2 charger at a motel. Obviously this will not allow me to charge at a 150kw tesla only charger, not entirely sure why with the big adapter I can't charge at the 150kw chargers.

The 150kw locations are not compatible. Refer to this page.

Sorry I didn't see the last of your reply, that explains it.
