Nah, many other cars are still selling well with this high interest. Telsa is still selling well. MME is just not doing well. The supply has simply exceeded the demand for MME.

If I am buying a new EV now, I would get a Tesla. Cheaper and less software problems. Good looks only get you so far.
Price is a big thing, but so is the Tesla supercharging network. I can tell you from experience the supercharging network is a lot less stressful on a long road trip vs the CCS DCFC network. It is also a lot less expensive to charge at a Tesla supercharger, with rates in our neck of the woods ranging from .14 to .30 per kWh, depending on time of use and demand.

Man how things have changed..... A year ago people would have left work and run down to the dealer to pickup a select for $48K.....
Yep, I was one of those last year. Dealers are going to have to wise up and realize this ain't 2022 anymore. There are new cars to be had everywhere.

Problem is if there is not a big enough markup on the car, I don't see the incentive to sell the MME at a loss AND pay big bucks to upgrade your dealership to be EV Certified.

I am glad we live in a capitalistic society compared to something else (socialist, dictatorship, etc.). And on that note.....I don't feel a damn bit sorry for the dealerships having overstock and not being able so sell their cars. They gouged customers when they were hard to get and made their money. Now the pendulum has swung the other way. I know the argument would be that even if they were a top dealer (nice, great customer service, no ADM, etc.) that would not help them sell the on-hand cars. Well, at the very least, it would get more customer (return, referrals, word of mouth) wanting to come through their front doors for the possibility of selling a car. I vote with my wallet and I will not give bad dealers my hard earned money.

Yes, good looks only get you so far.

But excellent driving dynamics get you the rest of the way.

I’m willing to pay more and live with worse software for a good looking fun to drive car.

I don't think MME has any superior cornering or sport handling lead over other EVs. If I am getting an EV now with handling and cornering in mind, probably a M3P for the acceleration and lower center of gravity. I am sure Porsche Taycan is good too but cost a lot more. I owned a BMW Z4 for many years. I would not say the cornering capability of the MME is near any real sports car. The weight and ride height in the MME or EV in general simply prevents it.

Can’t speak for all Mach Es, but the GTPE does. At least over the Model Y. I don’t count sedans as our direct competitors.

And it’s not just the handling. Steering feel and brakes matter too with better driving dynamics.

You may say the cornering ability isn’t near “any sports car,” but the numbers tell a different story. The GTPE pulls between .96 and .99 G on the skidpad depending on who tested it. The only SUV on the market in 2021 when we came out that was higher? Lamborghini Urus. And they barely beat us with much better tires.

The data-

I don't count any SUV as real sports car. The handling simply does not inspire confidence like a real low riding sports car. Anyway this is a matter of personal opinion, rather than math and data.

Out of curiosity. I checked the GTPE VS MYP price. Current GTPE after tax credit $63K. MYP after tax credit $49K. That is $14K in difference. This is not even a competition. It is a class leap.

Don't get me wrong. I would love people to buy a lot of MMEs and keep up the demand and keep my resale values up. But with the high MSRP, 5 Sec limit, HVBJB, Software issues. The trade in value speaks for itself.

I did the same. My 2022 Mach-E Premium cost me something like $47K in August 2022 with the $7500 tax credit, discounts, etc. A Tesla would have cost me roughly $15K more at that time. Now, a similar 2023 Mach-E is listed at my local dealer at $62,795, with a partial tax credit of $3,750 = $59K. A Tesla model Y LR is now listed for $50K, with the full $7500 tax rebate = roughly $43K, a $16K difference. Without even considering interest rates, there no case what-so-ever in my mind where I would now buy a Mach-E over a Tesla, and I love my Mach-E. But $16K more for buggy software and crappy DCFC network? Nope.

Not all of this is Ford's fault, especially related to the tax credit, but, yah, the MSRP prices won't stand.

I don’t either since by definition a sports car has two seats. ??

That said, a lot of sports cars handle terribly. Some handle quite well. ?‍♂?

Same can be said for our glorified station wagons (sorry, an SUV to me has a truck frame). The MME handles reasonably well, even though the steering is slow and numb and it’s got some weird dynamics issues due to powertrain software. ??

Drop inventory into So Calif - they will sell quickly !
Apart from it seems from the 88 sitting at Galpin ;) the market has changed since the mach-e launch as there are plenty of other choices for So Cal owners to pick from. The mach-e being the new ev on block to temp people wore of years ago and at current prices the mach-e offers very little incentive over the competition.

Naturally it will be region dependent but ignoring the sea of 'free paint option' teslas. I still see a number of mach-e out and about but with leasing being very common I am seeing more uptick in vehicles that offer 2/3 years worth of 30 min complimentary EA charging.

I don’t count SUVs as sports cars either. I didn’t bring up the sports car thing.

Have you driven a GTPE? The handling of it is significantly better than the lower models.

Either way, the point was that the car is more than just a pretty face. Yes at the current prices it’s a harder sell though. Wasn’t the case when I bought in 2021.

Your point about the trade in value has nothing to do with your complaints. Trade in values were ridiculously high…….. then Tesla kinda screwed everyone over dropping their prices by $15,000. Great deal for buying a new Tesla, sucks for anyone trying to sell a used BEV right now.

I also think the crappy trade trend will end as soon as you can’t get a super cheap Tesla anymore.
