A theory on why ordering takes so long.

Not the build, the time it takes to get a check mark next to 'Dealer Accepted'.

Imagine placing two orders in all 50 states and then when the car comes in, flipping it for the $500 down payment plus a grand or two for profit.

Can it be that Ford and/or the dealer runs new orders against the database of orders on hand so they can kick prospectors and that's why it takes a few days for the dealer to accept the order?

I think it’s more likely that dealers are just slow.

My dealer accepted the order with in minutes of my placing it online. I don’t recall ever not seeing the green check there.

I placed the order on my phone while sitting in the dealer’s customer lounge. By the time I walked to the sales manager’s office he was accepting it.

(I’m an old customer. They know me.)

That was followed by weeks of everyone trying to squeeze information out of ?Ford?.

Based on what we've seen for demand, it seems to me the dealers would accept the orders asap. There seems to be no problem moving refused MMEs.

It's not the resusing of orders, but running s stealth Ford market to people who've made a decision that they want it next January, etc., and willing to pay a scalper $2K over ticket from a non-authorized dealer.

Some dealers were slow last summer, too.
