Looking at ordering a GTPE. Do I just go online, configure and pay the $500 deposit? It sounds like so many folks ordered this spring and are still waiting. Will I be waiting until next year? Anyone else put in an order recently and get any sort of ship date?

When you order online, you're arranging a vehicle to be custom made that you'll purchase through the dealer of your choice. So, before doing that, it's wise to get in touch with the EV specialists at your preferred dealer(s) and get any order related questions answered via email (so it's in writing). If you're satisfied with the responses, then place the online order with your selected dealer.

What types of questions should I be asking? I saw on the stickies thread that my dealer doesn’t charge ADM on any orders. The only other thing I can think of asking is what the final price will be with any additional fees other than tax and title.

my biggest issue is I don’t want to wait until next year to get the vehicle…

Make sure that your dealer doesn't charge the ADM (get it in email or other form of writing). Make sure they will apply every incentive and rebate that will be available to you for your ZIP code. See if you can get them to throw in a second key and program it for free.

Don't assume that the old info on the stickies thread is applicable to your order now. This is one of the questions you should ask.

In my case, I qualify for Ford X-plan through my employer. If you qualify for A, Z, or X-plan, this is the most important thing to confirm with the dealer: "Will you accept A/Z/X-plan pricing on my Mustang Mach-E purchase?"

That's actually the ONLY question I needed answered prior to placing my order. Then just before the vehicle arrived, I confirmed that I don't want any add-ons like tinting, "desert protection packages," dealer stickers, etc.

If you're not a qualified member now, you have plenty of time to become one. For instance you can join the Mustang Club of America for something like $35 or $50 and once you're a club member for a few months, you qualify for X-plan pricing.

Thanks for the tips! It looks like you have to be a member of the mustang club for 90 days to get x-plan pricing. Do you think it would make sense to order now or do it closer to the 90 day mark. I’m looking at the GTPE if that makes a difference. It would be a bummer if the car was delivered prior to the 90 days kicking in.
What sort of discount does x-plan pricing get you anyway?

edit: looks like in my area it’s $1k savings and no incentives. Bummer. I’ll still call and talk to the dealership and get something in writing about no ADM as well as x-plan. Thanks for the info!!!

If you work for a bigger company, check with your HR benefits to see if the company has X-plan with Ford... Otherwise, sign up now for MCA or EAA (https://www.eaa.org/eaa/eaa-membership/eaa-member-benefits/Discount-Programs) so you'll be qualified by the time the vehicle arrives.

Incentives change every once in a while. The only ones that matter are the ones in place the day you complete your purchase and take delivery of the vehicle.

Oh you will wait and wait and wait. You will not receive any information from Ford or the dealer. I ordered March 3. Still waiting. Sick that I am paying full price for a 2021 model when 2022 will be out soon. Thinking about giving Ford my $500 and walking away from this craziness.

Make sure you get things in writing from dealership and reconfirm all details.

Things to ask
-accept xplan
-any dealer markups
-any dealer add ons
-will accept how much CC for downpayments (great for tagging on new CC benifits
-is deposit refundable
-will they use deposit for downpayment (some seem to refund depost instead of using it, if this is important to you)
-can they lock in any incentives such as the ford finacing $
-can they not install front plate (if you want this)

I don't think model years is a big a factror as it used to be from what I have seen in the last couple of years. certainly not as much on high demand short supply models. I don't think tesla, for instance, even quotes model years. But, if you have another 6 months or so to wait, it's not a horrible idea. But, if you really want the car now, just keep the order. It should have a decent resale value even a year from now. Also likley very minor changes to the '22.

Isn't ford quoting 28+ weeks for new GT orders. So unless you plan on buying off the lot you wont get it in 2021 I think unless you find one w/o ADM which is a goose chase.

I actually ordered online while at the dealer location using their computer with the salesman sitting right next to me. I thought that worked well since we could discuss all aspects of the sale before hitting the order button. Also had written approval for a second FOB.

Don’t all cars come with two key FOBs Now?
