A quick Google search indicates the opposite: adjustable headrests are actually safer than stationary ones when adjusted properly.

That sounds like a dealer tale rather than fact?

I would argue the adjustable headrests are safer because you can properly set the gap (you want a gap less than 2”) to minimize head travel during a rear-end collision, which can reduce whiplash injury. But I suppose the flip side is people adjusting the headrests too far back (“It’s touching my head sometimes!”) and getting more injured. A lot of people have no clue why headrests are even there, much less how to adjust them properly for safety.
This. Actually why 4 way adjustable headrests became a thing in the first place. They’re objectively safer (unless poorly made).

Last year in one of my threads I listed 25 changes I noticed between my ‘21 Premium and ‘21 GTPE to my ‘24 GTP. There are more changes than this I’m sure but it’s just the ones I noticed or knew about. Here’s my list from that thread:

1. Rear cargo hold down rings are plastic instead of metal
2. Driver/passenger kick plates no longer have an aluminum "Mustang/GT" plaque
3. Dual USB-C ports at the console rear instead of one USB-C and USB-A
4. Front Driver/Passenger doors no longer have a lock actuator (presenter)
5. Removed kick to open liftgate feature
6. Eliminated the inside illuminated open/close button on the liftgate panel
7. Rear speaker grills no longer have a B&O emblem
8. Removed the windshield wiper defrosters
9. Removed hood bump stops
10. Removed parking assist feature
11. Ceiling grab handles no longer damped, when released, they snap up quickly
12. Front camera through windshield has a white casing instead of black
13. High beams don't seem to be as bright as the ones in the '21 (low beams the same)
14. Front headrests on premium no longer tilt forward/backward
15. No more sound insulation padding behind door panels
16. Removed front grille camera washer
17. Cargo cover has slightly thicker support posts, more difficult to attach and remove
18. Shark fin antenna on roof no longer on a separate metal area by itself
19. Wireless charger is a separate metal plate within the plastic console bottom
20. Front proximity sensor beep has a higher pitch tone than rear proximity sensor beep
21. Now comes with a full printed owners manual
22. Start/Stop button no longer has a flashing green LED
23. Front side windows are no longer acoustic (laminated) after July '24
24. Frunk tub is lighter, has half the screws securing it and they‘re exposed
25. There are three things about the audio system that I've noticed
(a) The overall volume is at least 2db louder for any given volume control setting
(b) Dash tweeters sound more harsh in their lower frequency range
(c) The OEM 6x9 woofer bass frequencies sound deeper but it has an mis match of time alignment. It hits after the door speakers so a single kick drum almost sounds like two kick drums hit.
After removing the rear quarter panel to access wires I needed to install my aftermarket sub, I noticed the B&O amp is a different shape and it is also a larger than the previous one.
Amazingly thorough mark! You did miss the front camera wash delete though 😀

Looking to swap the non adjustable front head rests for the adjustable ones as found on the Premium models in the USA. Did the early UK Premium models have the adjustable head rests ? Has anyone in the UK swapped them over .?

It seems to me that the adjustment is in the seat not the headrest. Is this correct?

I just spent $200, plus tax (used points) to buy 2 tilting headrests for my 2022 Lightning which Ford removed back then, tired of my wife's headrest facing backwards. Swapped the covers.

This kind of stupid decontenting really pisses me off.

Can you replace the 25 headrest with a 21, and have it work? Non GT.

Not an option on a Lightning though.

I’m more “pissed” they took away the kick to open tailgate.
Otherwise, I’ve added suede cushions to the non-adjusting headrest and they’re very comfortable now.

They took kick to open away 3 years ago...

On the F-150s and Lightnings, the fixed headrest is forward of the rear positions of the tilting headrests. My wife found it push her head forward uncomfortably. Titled headrest works great.

And yes, you can put a Mach-E tilting headrest in a Lightning, just looks stupid.

HAPPY UPDATE:

I ordered part number LJ8Z-58611A08-AC and just switched it out with my drive side headrest.

It fits perfectly with the 2025 premium and feel so much better!!! I'm so happy!

The black leather and red stitching go perfectly with my sport appearance interior so it's really hardly noticeable that I made the switch.
