HI all, using a Pixel 10 Pro in my 24' Premium. Lately Google Maps has been 'spinning' frequently as if I'm spinning in a circle (video attached). Disconnecting from Android Auto seems to fix the issue and causes my direction to display properly.

Seeing that the disconnect fixes the issue, I'm wondering if the SYNC system uses the car's compass instead of the phone's? Has anybody else ran into this lately? Thanks in advance.

Is this only happening when you’re sitting still?

This happens to me ALL the time! Sometimes it's so bad it almost makes me motion-sick. 🤢

My phone is also an Android (Pixel 8 Pro). I haven't tried disconnecting and seeing what happens with Ford's navigation, but I'll give it a try.

In the past, I noticed the spinning would happen if my phone was sitting at a weird angle, or sliding around, or in a pocket. If I then took the phone and laid it flat in the center console tray, the map screen would usually stabilize.

Now, however, it seems to spin no matter what I do. Today I tried restarting my phone, but nothing had changed once it reconnected.

I’m sitting at a drive in and the map thinks I’m pointing the opposite direction of how I’ve parked.

I don't seem to have this setting on my Google Pixel. I have set location for Maps as "Always" which seems to lessen the issue to a degree but it still occurs.

I don’t think there is a “real” fix for this.
Your phone is extrapolating your orientation based on the last set of data it had before you came to a stop. It can get confused from time to time.
It’s easy to calculate the direction of travel when you’re moving. Not so easy when you’re standing still.
You can also try recalibrating your phone’s compass
