Android Auto not showing in app bar

When I have Android Auto running, there has always been a tile in the Sync app bar for it. Even when I was in AA, the tile would show. That tile no longer shows at all. I still have the AA icon at the top of the screen, so I can get back to it, but I'm wondering if there's a way to get the tile to reappear.

I've done a Sync reset with no luck, and the options I found online didn't seem to address the actual issue I'm seeing. No diff whether it's wired or Bluetooth, and no recent updates.

Have you tried going to the main menu to select it from there first? The 6 dot icon in the very upper left corner.

I say this because I had this happen to my tire pressure icon the other day. It disappeared from that bottom row but was still in the main menu. And once I selected it there it showed up down below again. No idea why.

I have, thanks. You can drag a tile down in the app bar and it will remove it. But selecting the app again should bring it back. No dice with AA, though.

Try selecting the phone app, not Android auto.

Android auto hasn't had a tile down there for quite a while now. Maybe since they added the button at the top of the screen for it.

Weird that the phone app brings it up and android auto doesn't. But who am I to question Ford's software decisions ?

I figured this out when hitting the CarPlay icon at the top of the screen would bring back CarPlay to where it was before. And the app button at the bottom bar always brings up my phone favorites in CarPlay no matter what the previous CarPlay screen was.

So the CarPlay/Android Auto shortcut is always at the top of the screen and the bottom app bar is for your actual phone to make calls (whether through CarPlay/Android Auto or just over regular Bluetooth).
