You still probably still can. But that completely depends on if ford launches AA for the current generation MME. If they do it will not be a software update but a new APIM module to replace the current one as the hardware will be different.

This is exactly what folks do to upgrade sync 2 to sync 3 as Ford usees modular components.

This will also not be supported by ford and likely invalidate some of the warranty. In a car like the MME where so many things are dependent on SYNC there may be unforseen issues.

It's wait and see it will also be who is brave enough to try it.
