Hi everyone,

I’m new to this forum so allow me to quickly introduce myself: I’m Martijn from the Netherlands and I’ve ordered a Mach-e (company lease) in beautiful Lucid Red. During my testdrive I was very impressed how she drives and imo much better than a MY.

That being said, I’ve ordered the MMe without the tech-pack because of budgeting issues :)

Also I found that the B&O was somehow a bit harsh in the upper mids and the low end was a bit underwhelming as well (I fumbled with the eq-settings offcourse). Overall, not really worth the €2.200,- price if you ask me. Those other options (elec tailgate, 360 cam and elec adjust seats) were not interesting enough for me.

So, long story short: I do give a lot about a good sound system. Not in an “ear bleeding 18 inch subs with 5000 watt amplifiers” kinda way, but more subtle and refined, with clarity, imaging/soundstage and some low end oompf.

I was wondering what’s possible to implement a small (maybe flat-ish) subwoofer in the boot of the car (preferably under the raised floor), and how to connect this all in a non-b&o car. I saw a Pioneer TS-WX70DA sub which caught my attention: In-build 200w amp, flat enough to fit under the raised floor (I think) with plenty of low end extension due to the enclosure design (transmission line loaded). The biggest question is where to get power, remote on, and signal input. I don’t want to hack and saw into the existing wiring loom because it’s a lease. So that’s out of the question.

As stated in many other Mach-e sub topics: power (it’s only 200w peak) can be tapped of the 12v socket on the right, along with GND, but the remote on wire and the speaker signal is a big question.

Who can steer me in the right direction? ?

many thanks in advance and cheers! Gr Martijn

@markboris has a great thread on all kinds of mods, including a full on upgrade of his sound system and subwoofer! I’d suggest you look at what he’s posted so far. Has pictures and everything included, plus comments from others who have done similar mods.

Edit: excuse my manners, forgot to say “Welcome to the forums”! Great to have you on here!

I also suggest you read markboris's excellent thread on installing a subwoofer and also on substituting a small JL amp for the lousy Ford subwoofer in the right trunk wall.

Thx for the replies guys!
The thing is, I saw Markboris his topics and, while they are very clear and handy, I have to keep in mind that “modifying” my car with additional power wires from the 12v battery is against my lease policy and can void my warranty. So I’m basically looking for the easy way: getting 12v from the outlet in the back, along with maybe military-splicing (not cutting) the speaker wires for the high level signal.
also: my car is the non-b&o kind, so without an amplifier in the rear. I therefore still have to figure out where I can get a remote/trigger signal for turning the active sub on and off. Does anybody know where I can get this signal?

I’ve never done this type of work tbh, but I’m not sure you can safely power a sub from a cigarette lighter port without blowing a fuse. Maybe I’m wrong and someone more knowledgeable can chime in?

Regarding remote triggers, there are some systems that can accept an audio signal as a trigger source for powering a unit on. Typically these are found on ht powered subs, but perhaps Emotiva and other theater-specific brands would have something you could tack onto your setup.
