Another frunk thread....

I know this is repetitive and I'm sorry for harping on this but it seems @Ford Motor Company just doesn't get it. I've seen a lot of members post that they got the frunk button in fordpass. Did they already have the updates to enable electronic frunk release? I never got that done and am out of warranty period. What are my options to get it done?

Currently there are two options: Get someone who has an FDRS rig to update your GFM and BCM and run the routine that enables the center screen button, or get a dealer to do it. We do not know if or when an OTA package will address this. Since this is now showing up in the app, I would think that they have plans for it but there are no known details on that. ??

You should consider posting in the regional forums for the greater DC area.
Someone with a FDRS cable and subscription might be interested in helping you out with updates to the modules you'll need.
I did mine myself, but I forget the specifics on what's required to enable the frunk. I think its Body Ctrl Module (BCM), and then FDRS has a specific routine to execute that puts the frunk button on the center screen. Sometime later (weeks), I then got the button in FordPass.

I had the electronic frunk release enabled months ago at the dealer with the key fob and the door keypad.
Then I enabled the frunk command on the SYNC screen with Forscan last February.
Three days ago the frunk button appeared in FordPass.

I’m confused - the very first Mustang Mach Es were delivered to customers in late December 2020. They won’t be coming out of warranty until this December. How are you out of the warranty period?

Guessing he's over 36,000 miles. Not sure its a warranty thing anyways. The car didn't ship with an electronic frunk release, so don't see how it would be covered under warranty to add later.
Those who got their frunk release added by the dealer was probably a by-product of doing other covered updates. Was there a field service action specifically for frunk?

Not that I know of. Everyone who got it installed via FDRS either got an enthusiast to do it or their dealer to do it. Some dealers did it for nothing, but I am pretty sure some dealers wanted to be paid to do it. ?‍?

I have had the Frunk Button on the Sync Screen and the Ford Pass App for 2 weeks now.

#1. Yes, I left it at the dealer for them to run the Modules. They said I was the 3rd or 4th one they have done in the last few weeks and it only takes about 10 min. If your out of warranty and have a decent dealer, get a "self pay" price.

#2. My App is set to Auto-Update; however it took 2-3 days to show up on my Ford Pass App. I was initially bummed that the Frunk Button was on the Sync Screen and not the App; but like a Miracle from God (#askJimrpa), it showed up. And Well Worth it. I'm a Big Frunk User and to Pop it open on the way out of the Grocery Store is Priceless.
btw- the electronic opening is a little less glamorous than one would think. There are like 4 clunks before it's open...But it is Glorious!!!

Way back in ancient times (such as during the original “tours”), it was a functionality that was promised for “a later date”

Frunk button won't show up until you get your next OTA FYI. The server doesn't refresh status until an OTA happens or they force a manual refresh.

The obsession with the Frunk button never fails to amuse This coming from someone who forgets she even has a frunk, as I spend my time trying to convince my MME I don't have ghost feet while I look like I'm having a kickboxing match with my back lift.
