Took a rock to the front bumper today and got a nice crack in that center black trim piece. Based on some images I found online, it looks like this should sort of just unclip and come off... but are these prices right? The OEM part is listed for almost $1500, if I'm looking at the right part number (LK9Z-8419-BA?)

I've found some on eBay for $400-ish, I think, that claim to be OEM.

So has anyone replaced one of these and is that price for real?

Ouch, sorry to see that. It doesn't surprise me that the price is so high, based on other parts I've seen.
One way to take care of it might be simply to cover it up with a grill wrap like many non-GT owners have done. There are a number of threads with pics. Here's one.

Maybe wrap it with a vinyl that looks similar just to cover it up?

I don't mind spending the money to fix it... well, I mean, maybe not $1500... but $500? sure. I'm sure I could wrap it but the problem is I'm going to KNOW that it's broken underneath.

If you replace it, I may be interested. I have a few ideas and that damage wouldn’t matter to me.

I’m in the middle of an insurance claim. My repair shop is quoting $2131 for that PN replaced.

Be glad you don’t have to replace “emblem”. That’s another $710.

Yup. That's what I've seen as the "regular" price of that part. Most of the online dealers and online OEM part sellers have it marked down to $1500-ish.

Based on the photos I've seen of the back of it, it LOOKS like it should just pop off from the front if you can get a good pull on it. I might pick up a couple suction cups and see if I can get it to pop off before I order a replacement.

Bumper sticker time. It’s an election season. Good place to apply some political stickers and troll people who give a crap about that sort of thing.

My replacement part came. Tore into the frunk today to see if there was any way I could get at it from the back. Doesn't look like an option unless I remove the whole bumper cover and try to force the clips free from the back side.

I was hoping I'd be able to attach a couple suction cups to the front and pull - but I think it's going to require a bit more force than the suction cups can hold. I have some smaller ones that won't stay attached well enough. I have some larger (~4") ones that might be able to hold on enough - if I could get them to attach to the sort-of-curved surface.

My next idea, short of removing the whole bumper, is to come up with something like I've seen with some PDR - find a way to hot glue a suction cup or something to the front and see if that holds any better... but I don't expect it to.

I'm open to suggestion if anyone has done this or has had the front bumper off...

I do have the service manual but there isn't much more than was linked here: https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...removal-instructions-how-to.19697/post-471152

Absolutely no detail specific to the GT and removing that insert.

I had a similar rock chip this spring. Cost insurance $2300 for parts and labor. ☹

Anyone have a solution for this yet? Deer hit us last night and need to know how to remove/install this part. Lucky it was a glancing blow, just popped the tow hook cover and spiderwebbed the grill insert. Happpppppy Easter!
