So I just had a fun thing happened with my audio system! When I got into my car and started it instead of hearing the usual chimes I heard a series of very loud crackles and Pops from the speakers as if audio cables were being plugged in and unplugged repeatedly to a live amp.

Android Auto automatically resumed playing back Spotify, but it wasn't audible. Instead all I got was a series of these loud pops if I changed the volume.

When I changed to FM radio there was a final loud pop, then audio started to play normally, and it was as if nothing happened.

Has this happened to anyone else before? Is this a software bug or hardware failure? Commence unfounded speculations!

Try a soft Sync reboot. Hold down the volume and media right button on steering wheel at the same time until it restarts.

Hi there! This doesn't sound like an experience we want you to have with your Mach-E. Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? I'd be happy to look into this on my end.

Didn't even have to do that... It just fixed itself. When I switched to FM radio and back

I appreciate it but it's happened just once and there are no stored DTCs so there's nothing for the dealer to do at this point

I was fortunate enough to have this curse bless me today and there's nothing I can do to fix it. I've reset sync and it will only go away if I turn off surround and set it to stereo only. It's far far worse than the OPs.

This is only happening on the rear speakers and yes those blue things in the rear door are medical barf bags.

Yeah I tried that when I saw what you did and it was a no-go. Only turning off surround sound was able to resolve it. I called Ford and they said bring it in. I said "So I can sit there for 2 hours for you to tell me that you can't see any DTCs and there's nothing you can do?" He replied, we can call Ford and ask them what to do.

I understand they need to car to bill the warranty claim to Ford but it's such a PITA for the end user and not a good look.

Update: I pulled the power to the LVB let it sit for 10 minutes and that cleared it up. A Sync reset, as I stated previously, did not work. Based on the two incidents here I would assume this is likely a software glitch.

Yeah I agree. If it's not sync maybe something with DSP? It only happened that once for me
