Thought I'd start a new thread in case there are others of you out there with this issue.
In January, I took my Mach-e in for the roof and windshield recalls, and to see if they could get me out of "no man's land" trying to get to 1.7.1. In the process of trying to get me unstuck, all settings were reset. I have not had access to the backup start passcode prompt since then, nor would sync allow me to create a passcode. It told me the necessary devices (phone with Bluetooth and fob) were not present, though they were.
I escalated the problem to @Ford Motor Company, but together we could not get the prompt to work. This week, I received a call from Ford, and they said the latest Fordpass upgrade should make things work and they wanted me to try everything all over again. So, once again, I deleted PAAK (including hitting reset on the screen under "vehicles" which is important), and voila! It works!
I'm still stuck trying to get 1.7.1, but at least I have a backup start passcode again.
