I'm not saying they should necessarily use the Pake, I'm saying $10K for a lift seems ludicrous, and it's even more ridiculous for an "EV Certified" dealer to not have one. If they're qualified to work on an EV, they should certainly have the tools to do so. The WeberAuto guys use a different lift table from the Rotunda, so it's certainly possible to use something not Ford branded, and I have a hard time believing a Ford service department doesn't have something capable of lifting the battery. The SR battery weighs a bit over 1,000 pounds, according to Munroe, so it's not like you need an overhead crane to lift the things.

Assuming OP was not making things up when he said "My dealership can't get the tools to fix the car. Seriously. They're EV certified and supposedly ready to go but can't source the tools. Ford hasn't been much help and apparently other local dealers aren't playing nice either," I'd call BS on the dealer's excuses. From the Weber video, the only "specialized" tool appears to be the lift table, which is not all that specialized a piece of kit.

If you're saying it's totally normal for a Ford service department to be certified to work on EVs but not be able to because there's some tool they can't get, I'd be curious what that tool is, because I'm missing something and would truly like to know.
Actually I think they have to buy $25,000 in EV tools including the lift and other things. So they need to sell a few dozen or so Mach-E's or Lightnings to pay for that investment.

EV certified dealers are supposed to have these tools on site as of a year ago. If they don't, they need to lose their EV certification and stop selling EVs they can't service.

Blows my mind why someone from Ford doesn't go around and check if dealers have the proper tools, outlets, and chargers for EVs on site. Dealers should get an annual inspection by Ford cooperate reps to keep their agreements.

OP, please start a case with the BEV team at Ford customer service. Make sure you lodge a complaint about the EV certified dealer not having the proper tools to service EVs. Dealers are supposed to lose EV status if enough of these type of complains are received.

So I spent an hour on the phone with Ford today. Still getting the run around. According to Ford my dealership does not have the part or the tools (which ford also conveniently calls parts) to fix my car.

My understanding is that my dealership actually has the lift...

What they can't seem to find/borrow/steal/purchase is the safety shielded tools.
