2025 Mustang Mach E Premium
I am in the market for a new Mach E. I am pretty sure I will get the Premium model. I just don't know if the 2024 or 2025 is best? What do you think?

I am also interested to know if you have any information on when is the best time to buy a new Mach E? Should I wait till January or February?

All the best,
David

I'm guessing that there are almost always a good deal somewhere. Or put another way, it's beer:30 somewhere all the time. It just might not be conveniently down the street from where you prefer to sit? 😁

In my opinion, the 25 is superior to the 24. The 25 has a heat pump and better charge management tools, Tesla supercharger navigation info, just to name a few.
If, on the other hand, you can get a smoking deal on the 24 vs. 25, then you will have to decide if the cheaper price outweighs the added features.
Good luck on your decision.

As noted, the biggest difference between the 24 and 25 is the heat pump, though there are other differences as well, such as an updated IPC and better charging control. While the software features in theory could be provided to earlier model years, AFAIK Ford is disinclined to do so.

It is also worth noting that end of year specials are certainly possible. Not sure you're likely to find better deals in January, but my crystal ball is broken, so...🤷🏼‍♂️

Lastly, the 2026 model year should, in theory, be starting soon. So perhaps you might want the latest and most decontented...? 😉

That heat pump is a potential negative actually. Depending on where you live, of course.
Hadn't thought about that. OP is in California, so a crazy-good deal on a 2024 is a real possibility.

Also, your new avatar slipped past me -- I've always looked for the crazy guy picture as the indication of a quality post!

Luckily I have a 14th Gen F-150 as well as the Mach-E, so I'm not completely lost. ;)

Unfortunately with fords and later model years it is always better to look past what was added but also what was removed as ford have a habit of decontenting and see if in your typical use case the additions outweigh was was removed.

With the hopeless state of Ford at the moment and its never ending waste of money on recalls / failed EV projects Ford appear to be decontenting even more than normal so if you want mach-e get it now as if the 2026 mach-e goes in the direction other 2026 models it will probably end up having features removed or become cost optional :(

If 0% financing is available on the model you want....that could be a big factor right now?!¿

I always think month end is better, yearend is best. I try to buy around that time of year because I am cheap and I don’t value relationships with dealers.

Email 15 dealers around Monday the 29th and tell them you want their best otd pricing and that you’re shopping around but will make a decision within 48 hours. I bet that you will see a cluster of very low pricing by 2-3 dealers (beyond what you thought possible). That’s been my experience anyway.

Oh, and get a 25. You don’t want a year old car collecting bird shit.

The one caution I would give is make sure you specify all the major features you require. There can be a lot of variation in price depending upon what is included. Standard battery vs Extended battery, RWD vs AWD, sun roof vs metal.

My input based on having rented a 2024 Mach E AWD Premium from Avis for 4 days and now having driven our brand new 2025 AWD Premium for just over 6 weeks with 3300 miles. I prefer the revised stalk shifter on our 2025 over the console dial shifter on the 2024. Shifting between drive and reverse when maneuvering in tight spots is easy to do with eyes on the road. I found myself having to look down at the dial shifter on the 24. It also frees up space on the console. The smaller frunk on our 25 hasn’t really bothered me but I’m sure the bigger one would be even better. I’m just glad it has one and it was perfect size to pack some pies and other food we brought to our daughter’s Thanksgiving celebration.

That's what I'm willing to wait a little longer for. If we're going to go with another EV, I'd prefer our current '23 to stay under 10k mi. for the re-sale....

2024 Mustang Mach-E Premium AWD Extended Range
I have the 2024 premium AWD ER with the pano sunroof.

If I was buying again AWD and Extended Range battery is a must have for me.

Drive different models for Suspension comparisons

How much horsepower/torque do you want

2025
Column shift- easier 3 point turn or "no look" reverse to forward.
Smaller frunk
Blue Cruise 1.5 hardware

2024
Big Frunk energy
Center console Dial shifter love/hate
Used models have a lot of Depreciation which may get you into a better model?

Great deals on 2023 & 2024 models years since they have a lot of depreciation.

Should be able to find a 2024 Premium around $30K.

Then get your loan calculator and compare the payment to a new 2025 Premium at 0% interest.

Also the Rally model as an inch higher suspension and has the magneride shocks which makes the vehicle more comfortable over bumpy, potholed, or uneven roads.

Read the "rally spring" threads here to get an idea.

Supposedly the 2025 Premium has a better suspension now but you'll have to test drive it and separately a 2024 and see if it matters. It can be hard to find enough bumps and potholes when you test drive it near a dealer.

The panoramic sunroof is awesome when you are parked on a beautiful sunny day or on a clear evening - again while parked.

When you're driving you don't get to enjoy the panoramic roof - in fact I particularly don't enjoy it from 1pm to 3pm when you've got the annoying sun in the corner of your eye coming down from above - similar to the 5 o clock rush hour sun in your front windshield.

My pano roof experience, others may not have that issue but the pan roof sun shade has been up for six months now and it is a $1500 option I'm hiding. Bought mine off the lot so it had it already.

Good luck in your search!
