Received my 2022 California Route 1 about 2 weeks ago. Until 2 days ago, I had no issue. Well, other than having to reboot the center display in the first week. That seemed ... not ideal...
I have a Ford Connected Charger at my house. Has been working great.
Anyways, I take a trip to our cottage assuming I'll just us the mobile charger while I'm there. I try it and after 30 seconds the charge port on the car is blinking orange.
Luckily I had enough charge to get back to my house. I plug it into my Ford Connected Charger and the same thing happens!
I read that factory resetting the car has helped. So I do that. It did not help.
It's like car and charger connect and charge for like 10-30 seconds, then I hear it click again and the orange blinking starts.
I don't think it ever said "Stop Safely Now". Just "Fault Charging Check Manual" or something like that.
Unfortunately I purchased this from a dealer far from my house. It's a family friend and I figured give them the commission. I called a dealer service station near my house and they wouldn't even be able to look at the car until June 7th!
In my life time, I've had a $500 1992 Dodge shadow, many leased Jeeps, and a purchased new 2014 Mazda CX-5. I've literally never had a problem with a car.
I saved an purchased this nice car to hopefully keep that trend going. I also chose the Mach-E because "Elon has enough $$$. He doesn't need mine" ... So far...I have regrets.
@Ford Motor Company please help!!
UPDATE 1: Southgate ford (The dealership I used that's 50 miles from my house) is doing a great job with customer service. They are driving out a loaner for me and taking this car in. I'll keep this post updated with their findings.
Final Update: Southgate ford resolved the issue fast. (2-3 days)... They also gave me a free loaner during that time and one of the employees literally met me at his house for all of this because it was much closer than the dealership.
The SOBDM needed to be replaced. (Secondary On-board Diagnostic Module) part 10B689.
Charged it last night. So far, so good.
It is a very nice car. Even if it is missing a few luxury features that seem to be standard on many cars.
I don't have regrets anymore. But I am a bit shell shocked. Combustion engines never have a "My car just won't accept gas" problem. So to have a "my car won't accept electrons" will leave me a bit shell shocked. I don't think that's a reflection on ford. But on electric cars in general.
