All - I experienced a strange issue while traveling this weekend with the blue oval change network feature in the Fordpass app.

I can only activate electrify america chargers in the app. When I try to activate any other company's chargers through Fordpass (I only have in network chargers filtered), the "SELECT' button is grey instead of blue. If I try and push the grey " SELECT" button, nothing happens. If I select an EA charging station, all the " SELECT" buttons are blue and I can navigate to the next screen to activate the specific charger. I have looked in Fordpass at multiple different chargers in different areas and it's consistent behavior in the app for me.

I still charged at non-EA stations this weekend by downloading the charge company's app (in this case EVGO and Blink). However I do enjoy the convenience of not having a bunch of different apps and just using Fordpass.

Has anyone has this issue? If so any tricks to fix it? For completeness, yes my blue oval charging network service shows as active in my connected services. This issue is a new one for me. I called Ford and the Fordpass rep said everything looked fine on their end. They have escalated to IT and will be back to me.

I tend to use the ChargePoint app because I can just tap my phone and the charge starts. At EA I just plug in and it works. I don’t think I’ve actually used the FordPass app.

Hasn't that always been the case? I thought the FordPass app would only activate charging at EA, Shell, and Greenlots (now Shell).

No - I have used the FordPass app the same EVGo charger I used on the trip in the past. Its a frequent route i take from NJ to Vermont in ski season.

A reason to NOT use the ChargePoint app was that it would refill and hold a balance. That reason is now gone, ChargePoint is now depleting balances and then charging for the charge only.

A reason TO use the ChargePoint app is if you have a credit card that provides cashback for EV charging (like Costco VIsa). ChargePoint is an EV charging provider, whereas "Ford Motor Company" is not.

I am the latter… Costco Visa gives 4% for EV charging. ?

Right, but only for $7,000 in charging. So, at say 48 cents per kW, that's only 14,583kW. At 3 miles per kW, that's only 43,750 miles... ?
