The difference this time is it is not a "change", it's purely a deletion of a feature. People who didn't like it or didn't care could already have the dumb car on there. They have removed the options not to have the stupid ugly car. The only options are to either hate it, or not care because it doesn't affect you.

It would be easy to make everyone happy here: don't remove the thing. Boom! Everyone who likes the tiny speed-o behind their hands can have that, and people who want it in the middle can have that too.

- The ability for users to control the size (it is larger in the middle)
- The drive-mode theme animations/color graphics

Even before this change the IPC was disappointing because of the lack of ability to customize it (any car built in the last 15 years has more dashboard screen options than the MachE IPC). Now they deleted one of the two options, so it has no options at all....

My T/A has the tach on the left, water temp & oil pressure directly above the column, and Speedo on the right. My Blazer has the Speedo on the left, tach directly above the column, and the preciously over-sized fuel gauge to the right. In both of those cases I can read any or all of the gauges with a flick of the eye. My MME? Not so much. If Ford would just move the Speedo just a bit over toward the middle, perhaps making the car’s image and the Speedo symmetrically opposed toward the middle of the screen, I wouldn’t have a complaint about the layout. ?‍?

I would confidently put $100 on nobody on the software development team considering any of those things a feature.

But using it as a convenient bridge to a somewhat different topic. There is a movement afoot to require ACC (by whatever name it may be called) plus prohibit cars from ever exceeding the speed limit, as posted or in the data base, for any reason. Yes, they’re serious.

It would be bad for the first couple years, but then I think you would see the limits rise to where they actually belong. (Or a lot of fired politicians. Or both. First one, then the other.) So a win in the end?

I like having the speedo in the middle.

When I bought my MME I had to drive 90 miles on the 5 and 405 to get to my destination. The dealer had all the "safety" features turned on. It was quite annoying to me having the vibrations and the box in front of the car icon going from blue to red. In LA traffic if you're not tail gating at 70 - 80 mph people will cut in front of you.

Once I got to my sisters house, I turned all that off...

I've seen a lot of bickering in this thread about safety settings and I think you should be able to choose what visual layout and safety settings you want. Ford has taken that layout choice away for now...

It's hard to stay in the lines when you are admiring the beautiful graphics on the display.

Or use the turn signal when changing lanes. Vibration is gone when using signal. Some however don't believe in signaling.
