The three drive mode views (above) will go away and they'll all look something like this (below):

And I assume engineering is looking at reducing the size of the display....lots of empty real estate....in fact this may be a baby step to moving the speedo all the way over to other display ala Tesla.

BTW, where is our tach?

What would a tach on an EV tell you and how would that info be useful? Serious question.

LOL, nothing really other than traditional aesthetics in a GT. Seems like a very stark display that could use spice.

Im from the camp that does not need the picture of the car front and center. I do not use BC or lane keep or anything else. I just drive it myself.

Got my first taste of the useless-car-icon-in-the-middle-of-the-screen. And I have to say... why Ford, why? You have now squished my speed/cruise setting/speed limit sign all to the far right when you have TONS of empty space. Just put the stupid car about 1/3 over from the left, and the speed about 1/3 over from the right, and both will be easily visible.

Why the stupid, stupid Ford designers thought I would need a static image of a car taking up the entire middle of my IPC, I'll never know.

The replacement for the tach on an EV is dial that show charge level along with a power / regen meter. You get that with a few makes, much better than the microscopic one ford gives you on the GT/GTPE. The display has plenty of real-estate to do one, at least the mach-e has a drivers display so it could be worse.

What I’m actually scratching my head about is why so many people want to turn off safety features (lane keep assist) in order to make the speedometer more aesthetically pleasing.
Not all of us live in metro areas. My commute to work doesn't require these features nor do the roads where I live meet the requirements for these safety features to function properly. Also, maybe 10-15% of the milage on my car are from the freeway miles.
But mainly what is really frustrating is that they took away our choice of where we would like crucial information to be displayed when we previously had the option to choose. They took away the ability to customize the display to the user's preferences, and for no reason or benefit to the driving experience.

It sounds like a lot of people have no use for BC since they feel so strongly about having the speedometer in the center.
Not all of us drive on BC mapped roads everyday. Of the 10000 miles on my car maybe 1000-1500 of those are BC miles.

How is Ford going to survive without your $600-$800/year? I think their objective is to get this hyped BC out to start collecting money.
That car on your IP doesn't do much without BC, so you might as well drink the kool aid and buy their BC.

I’m not trying to force people to do anything.

Just pointing out what should be obvious- keeping lane centering on makes your car safer.

In this situation, I choose safety over cosmetics. Clearly others here care enough about this issue to pick the latter.

To be clear, on a 10 point scale of safety concerns though, I maybe rate this a 2 or 3.

On my last car, it didn’t have lane keep assist, just lane departure warning. “Beep beep” every time you cross a line without a turn signal on. Annoying a heck. I kept it off…… until I read a story on the forum where it saved another forum members life.

I lived with the “beep beep.”

Similar reason I attach the kill switch every time I boat now. Also annoying, but it beats getting run over by your boat if you get thrown out.

All in all, the likelihood of something happening is super low. But after reading a horror story or two…… I turn all the safety crap back on. Even though it’s annoying.

It may sound like I’m passionate about the subject because of the points I’m making. Definitely not though, also a 2 or 3 on the 10 scale.
It's the fact that when you turn off these features that the stupid car graphic is still there doing nothing. These features are not needed 100% of the time you are behind the wheel for every person that owns a Mach E. In rural city driving like myself, these feature don't work properly most of the time. At times they are themselves a safety risk as they have pulled my car into precarious parts of the road when it can't figure what to do. Now, the moment I am on a freeway or a highway these features are on. But for me 90% or my driving is rural city. And furthermore, I live where it snows and these features don't work on snow covered roads at all. So now I get to stare at a pointless car that provides no usefull information in the best real estate that screen has to offer.
