Well it's a sad state of affairs they tried so hard and by the time they get caught up somebody decides to turn things off and make it sad again my thought is they're probably going to be shutting down a lot of the version of Ford and reducing their output greatly there's like a years worth of inventory and maybe somebody in the software division is mad and is losing their job so they're coming up with silly changes to make everybody upset

It's quite the opposite they got a real UI expert and made it more useful.

Why is putting all the speed related things always in the same place a bad thing, I'm so confused by this criticism it's such a marked improvement in usability. I can literally get all relevant driving information without taking my eyes off the road, it's great. I just wish it had time and temperature (although I do realize there is the cold flag). I am a little annoyed at the energy bar gatekeeping though, that's just silly.
It’s not about the location of the numbers on the screen for me, it’s about the UI design. The original UI was beautiful and made the car fun to drive. The current bugged UI is a compromise and looks cluttered.

Bring this back and I don’t care if it’s the car or the speed in the center.

I think it's fair to be upset by this it was clearly made by somebody who had no interest in practical UI design, feels heavily impacted by a marketing person (obviously well done), now we're getting the real utilitarian stuff, I say bring it on.

Fair to be upset by the original design or the change?

It was a work of art that you clearly like, it's loss is fair to be upset about, but what has replaced it is a practical improvement notwithstanding.

I didn’t buy a Mustang for its practicality, I bought it for its beauty. Form wins over function every day.

Exactly! Fortunately most Prius drivers bought Teslas. Unfortunately, too many of them bought the Mach e. The focus of this car should be fun not utilitarianism.

One could say the new layout has some beauty that is in the eye of the beholder. ?

That is possible, but my head don’t be-holding those eyes. ?

But the ACC speed, speedometer and last speed sign are now literally adjacent. Instead in the center of the screen is weather or not your tailgating or if you've departed a lane which in any given second is more important than your speed.

While I appreciate the zen of the center speedometer everyone is objectively wrong about this and is literally why Ford changed it because it's better (safer*), lol.
This argument is only remotely valid if you do 99% of your driving on the highway, which most people do not do. Most of the time, the car in the center is static and does NOTHING if you don't use lane assist or cruise control. Before the change, when cruise or lane assist was activated, the speedometer would slide over, which is fine. Having it to the side 100% of the time is BAD design, sorry.

I think it's much better to only have it always in the same place with all the other speed related information as mentioned, having it move is significantly inferior. Not using the majority of the ADAS features of the car sounds like a you problem.

Your speed is not that important second to second and this is why it was demoted, just take deep breath and think about it. In one second lane departure or following too close are far more important.

This display is for driving information and it is so magnificently.

Just think about your computers keyboard does it make sense to dynamically remove letters from it when you dont use them or should z always be there when and where you expect it to be.

It still doesn't change the fact moving it in the first place is a reason to be upset but I would just like to point out, it is in fact, better.

Exactly! I turned driver aids on when on the highway and off on the side roads. They don’t work on side streets so why clutter up the screen with them.

Well then it’s a me problem too. I turn them off when I’m not on the highway. I find they don’t work well on side roads and often I’m fighting against them when they are trying to steer me into another car.

Honest question: why does this need to be on the dash at all? This is literally on the road in front of you, where you should be looking for it. I don't need the dash to distract me from the car in front of me with a crappy cartoon box version of the same thing. Same with lane departure, I can see the safety/utility of having the wheel shake or a noise, but having dash animations of it is actually counter productive to good driving.
