Shortly after buying my CR1 in March, I noticed an issue with the weather stripping on one side of the liftgate (pictures at the bottom of this post). The stripping doesn't seem to fit in the seam and protrudes out beyond the surface of the car. I had it "fixed" under warranty last week, and the problem came back two days later after initially appearing fixed. I revisited the dealership this morning, and (although they're willing to replace the part again) they say Ford has updated the part, and that's just the way it is. I'm confused that it initially seemed fixed, and more concerningly, the weatherstripping part on the bad side is loose. I looked at a couple of other Mach-Es while I was at the dealer, and although they don't seem to be protruding beyond the surface to the extent mine does, their weatherstripping did seem to bulge more than I would expect. So, am I crazy, being too picky, or is this a legit flaw?

Here's a pic where you can see the protrusion beyond the flush surface of the car:

Here's an equivalent shot on the good side:

And here is a comparison of the interior part loose on the bad side:

and unmovable on the good side:

That was noticeable on my 2021 Premium. It is not on my 2022 Premium.

Interesting. So better on a newer model. Belies the explanation from my dealer that the new part is this way. But, doesn't make me optimistic that they'll fix it.

I’ll be interested to hear what your dealer says if you do bring it up to them.

Sounds dubious. No such bulges or looseness on my car, built August 2021.
Agreed. Very suspect. I’m hoping they fix it properly when I bring it in this week. If not, I’m not sure what I'll do. As annoying as this is, I'm not sure it's worth keeping up the fight if others have seen this problem too.
