I have been talking to a dealership who is willing to sell me a demo premium AWD as soon as it hits 2000 miles with no ADM. I am willing to take this deal but I just wanted to make sure I will be able to qualify for the tax credit. They assure me it hasn't been titled and therefore should be qualified for the tax credit. Is there a surefire way to check this? Also is there anything I should be wary of buying a demo? They said they've actually just been driving it among the managers mostly to more quickly hit that 2000 miles that Ford requires dealerships, but who knows if they're lying.

Check you state laws about whether a dealer has to title a demo. I purchased a demo with 2300 miles on it from a dealer in Iowa, I live in Tennessee. I was the first to title it so I qualify for the tax credit.

Love the car

One thing I’m wary of is the hundreds of farts that people put in the drivers seat. Otherwise, I believe you should be good on the Federal Credit if it was an FCTP unit that wasn’t titled. And it isn’t like you have to worry about proper engine break-in.
However, I would never pay close to MSRP for a car with 2K miles on it. I understand the crazy supply/demand situation we’re in now, but, I still couldn’t do it. If you’re ok with it, go for it ??

What is FCTP?

I'm choosing to view it as other people test drove it for me for the first 2000 miles to make sure it's good haha.

Something they're doing for me is waiving the fee for not financing (I'm paying cash) which they said would've been $1500 which is definitely BS.

Ford Courtesy Transportation Program - loaners basically. They’re doing it with Bronco also. Beware - Ford has direct to dealer incentives for the FCTP units that the dealer should pass on to you if you are insistent.
I believe it’s something like $250 discount for every 30 days the car was in FCTP service. So, it can add up. I know many dealers are actually marking theirs up instead of discounting like they should.

They told me this was not a loaner but a demo vehicle in the showroom to show off the car to take orders, but they've mostly been just driving it amongst themselves to hit the 2000 mi as quick as possible. No way to tell if they're telling the truth I guess.

Gotcha. Just ask them straight up if it was a designated FCTP unit and if so, that you want the Ford incentives. They may have kept it in the showroom instead of putting it in the overnight loaner program like Ford intended. We checked our dealer’s FCTP FE unit out overnight to make sure my wife really liked the Premium 4X enough to skip ordering a GT.
