This may have been discussed before, but it was new for me this morning. Lucky for me I was home. I had my phone on my bedroom charger and I needed to move my FE Job 1 MachE. No problem I use the door code and car start code like this on a weekly basis since I got the car 18 thousand miles ago. Today however was different because the car was in sleep mode to save battery. So I thought should be no problem wait for the start up sequence and enter the code; except the code screen never would come up. Just black screen. Tried the sequence of out of the car close the door push start and Apple CarPlay comes up but can’t find the phone so back to black screen. Dead. So I take the hidden fob out of the faraday bag and the fob does not work either. Assuming that battery is dead. So I go get my phone and everything works perfectly yeah PAAK! I already have an appointment with the dealer for updates tomorrow that were scheduled 2 weeks ago for updates that were supposed to have been done OTA successfully already. But the good news is I am getting a 2nd fob!
Has this black screen no code situation ever happened to anyone else? And how did you get it to work without PAAK? Did a sync reboot work?
Thanks!

I had that a few months ago after some OTA the backup passcode screen would never appear. I fixed it by removing the PAAK phone from the FordPass app and the car. The. I setup PAAK again and that did the trick.

That black screen happens about every other update it seems, usually just a sync reboot fixes it. Ive never needed to enter my code right after the update though, I dont know if its normal or not but mine takes 2 or 3 presses of the start button before it will even prompt for the code.

The FOBs should last 2 years+ per battery by the way.
