I brought home 2 2x4x8s last weekend. The front tip was about 3” from the center screen, the back end was touching the back edge of the rear cargo floor.

also hauled home 1100 lbs of paving stones a few weeks ago. The Mach-E hauls a lot more than a**.
1100 pounds? ?

I hauled concrete edgers home this weekend myself and um... you might want to review the max load listed on that label on the door. Here's mine - you may want to take notice the combined weight number:

Not that I'll be using my MME for heavy hauling (the Escape will get any of that now), but I've always looked at those load limits as "if driving normally". Meaning, cornering like normal, going over bumps like normal, etc.

If I did overload the car for a drive home from Home Depot, I'd baby it on the way home to try any avoid adding those stress points the car is engineered to handle.

well, I suppose it's your car, you can take the words "should never exceed" (emphasis mine) to mean anything you want.

You guys buying lumber these days must be independently wealthy!
No kidding. Lumber prices have gone through the roof. (High demand from all the riot zones over the last year?)

I have a feeling prices for a LOT of things are about to soar.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Carrying ability - lumber Lumberin

I saved up to buy more lumber, that's about CAD $130.
Found the 6 foot boards much easier to put in.

Home Depot will rent you a truck for $19.95!
Not worth the possibility of damaging your car for such infrequent use.
This is the correct answer. Or if you don't want to deal with renting, keep an old beater pickup around for your occasional needs. I have a 1999 Silverado for that reason.

Yeah, I kind of fear this one. After going through two Teslas and now deciding I’m done with them and jumping ship for a Mach-e, I’ve been trading in new cars way too fast. I’m hoping the F150 doesn’t seduce me into trading in the Mach-e in a year or so. ?

Despite getting about 15mpg, my ancient Silverado is pretty darn green. I only use it for local hauling. With nearly 300k miles on it, it’s still delivering miles, has long since amortized the carbon footprint of its own manufacture, and has outlived most vehicles on the road. If it had been retired earlier, another vehicle would have to have been manufactured to take its place.
