I had an issue with that yesterday. It flashes a message about auto hold - I must have hit the wrong selection (yes/no). In the past I have ignored and it was fine. So, I will ignore it from now on.Does auto hold work in neutral? Thinking auto hold needs to be turned off before going in.
I’ve been through several car washes no tape no issuesI work at a carwash part-time during school and I can tell you the biggest thing we see are usually rear wipers.
Fords in general we rarely ever damage, their wipers are a solid beam and don't really move under high pressure like Hondas and Subarus.
We have never had an issue with a charging door being opened during a wash on any EV. We get a lot of bolts, niros, blazers, and mach-e that come through regularly.
In my experience maybe 5% of the time the cover for the 12v jump lead comes off when the car is being dried (blowers not hand dried), but its held on with a cable.
If you're really concerned you could ask for a full retract to the employee so the spinning brushes don't go on the car, but that's up to you.
Putting tape on the mach-e is pretty overkill unless you are using a really old carwash.
Consider yourself lucky. I even had 3 pieces of painter's tape on and it still ripped my charging port off.I’ve been through several car washes no tape no issues
We have no problems at all using our local car wash. We don’t tape our door for the charger, but I did buy an aftermarket carbon fiber cover for it that seems to do the trick. When using a carwash have you had any trouble with charging door, bumper lead door, or with staying in car while in neutral?
See stories where charging door comes off. And some with bumper door falling open.
And if you are staying in the car shouldn't you be able just to put in neutral like any other car? And not doing all the steps to put in neutral to exit car.
Good question.Question: are charging doors really more likely to be ripped off by carwashes than gas tank filler doors, even though they fundamentally the same?
No, because it's not like "any other car" with a mechanical transmission....
And if you are staying in the car shouldn't you be able just to put in neutral like any other car? And not doing all the steps to put in neutral to exit car.
Can you share specifics on the tape you are using? After loosing my door cover and $140 for a new one I do not want this to happen again, but also don't want to damage my paint with wrong tape. Thx!I use painters tape on charging door and rear wiper. No issues staying in car in neutral
If you're going through the type of wash with spinning brushes or something that actually touches the car (and risking opening/breaking the charging door) you're probably doing more damage to your paint from the wash than a piece of tape would do.Can you share specifics on the tape you are using? It’s the blue painters tape that you use on your walls to protect from getting paint on trim piecesCan you share specifics on the tape you are using? After loosing my door cover and $140 for a new one I do not want this to happen again, but also don't want to damage my paint with wrong tape. Thx!
