I will most likely be placing an order for a MME this weekend. Is it possible to change the dealership after the order is placed? My local dealer will not do X-Plan pricing, but I found a dealer about 100 miles away that will. I plan to reach out to more dealers, but wanted to see if it is possible to switch after I place the order. I doubt it, but wanted to ask the experts! Thanks!

You can but I'd highly recommend going with the dealer that takes X-Plan. After you place the order get a signed buyers sheet from the dealer. If he won't provide it, cancel the order and find another dealer that will.

I believe it’s entirely possible and may be advantageous to switch your dealer and you can do it up until two or three weeks before it enters the rail system I believe. I also believe others have posted an email address for the Direct contacted Ford to get it done instantly

The best thing to do is to say you were moving or want to be closer to that dealer for service or ease of access on your lifestyle reasons

Let the new dealer know it’s coming get your term square and you can laugh at the guy that wants to rip you off. He was totally pissed. Knew he lost a sale and looked bad. Ford is trying to stop the capricious dealer grabs for cash with people who are good customers and are ordering product in advance

did it last year. I felt like the king of crushing car dealers who are bad.
As Tom Petty said. “ it’s good to be king whatever the pay….”

ripperAZ did it so I won't go against what he said, but when I called Ford to discuss it, it sounded like a big pain. Ford told me that they can't do it unilaterally, basically you need to go through your dealer to have it done. If you have a good reason for it then I'd imagine the dealer would go along with it, but if the reason is something like "I found better terms and costs elsewhere" then I'm not sure the dealer would go along with it... and if they don't, I'm not sure what recourse you'd have. Basically if the dealer refunds your deposit I'd guess both the dealer and Ford would tell you to just place a new order. Could get interesting now that Premium and CA Rt 1 trims are off the menu.

But long story short... try to get it right the first time.

This was my experience as well. Dealer A started playing games once I wanted things in writing (only had verbals before ordering) and I wanted to switch to Dealer B who I had emailed and confirmed with. Ford told me to call the dealer as corporate couldn't do it. I called Dealer B, they said they thought only corporate could do it but would look into it and get back to me, but never called me back. In that time I finally got a different sales guy assigned who gave me the assurances I needed so I didn't pursue it further.
