Hello everyone,

I’ve been experiencing a recurring issue with my 2022/07 Mustang Mach E. The “Charge Fault” error pops up when the car reaches its target charge during the night (e.g., at 1 a.m.) and a departure time is set for the following morning (e.g., 8 a.m.).

Interestingly, if the car reaches its target charge closer to the departure time (e.g., an hour before), the “Charge Fault” error does not occur.

Some background:
  • My target charge is set to 80%. When this issue happens, the car shows a charge state of 79% when I check in the morning.
  • This is my third winter using the same charger, and I’ve only encountered this problem since I started using the departure time feature for preconditioning in cold weather.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
  • I’ve been to the service center twice.
    1. During the first visit, they updated the charging module, but the problem persisted.
    2. During the second visit, the car was in for three weeks (partly due to a minor accident repair), and they updated all the firmware. However, the issue occurred again shortly afterward.
I’m looking for suggestions on what might be causing this issue and how to resolve it. Could it be something beyond firmware updates, like a hardware fault or a specific settings adjustment? Has anyone else experienced this with their Mach E or a similar setup?

Thanks in advance for your help!

What kind of charger are you using? Is it programmed to only charge at certain times?

Thanks for your response! I’m using a portable EV charger that connects to a 400V CEE 5-pin socket, which is standard here in Europe. I understand that the socket type may differ from those in the US, so I’ve included a picture of my charger for reference.

The charger itself is not programmed for specific charging times. Instead, the car is programmed to charge between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., with a departure time set for 8 a.m. The charging typically finishes around 1–2 a.m. However, if the charging completes much earlier before the departure time, that’s when the "Charge Fault" error seems to appear.

Thank you very much for your time —I truly appreciate it!

PREVIOUSLY POSTED BEFORE I SAW THIS THREAD...Hello All, This is charge faults but more related to Departure Times. The 2023 x-battery AWD threw a fault and sent a message through the app (third party accessories, there are none) during our second time using Departure Times (DT). This first time faulting did not totally drain the 12v. I called an electrician and had the garage plug upgraded to 50A and installed a Grizzl-e 40A Classic. The third time using DT with the upgraded charging the car threw a second fault through the app (this fault was worded exactly like pasted above but after the service appointment the notification was deleted, to be clear not by me) and the 12v was totally drained to where I had to go in through the frunk. Summing up, I went to the dealer and their warranty invoice says only, "scanned p1a10 pinpoint test ay1". Today Ford service said they scanned and cleared a (p1a10 pinpoint test ay1). All I can say at this point is I hope that fixes it but if there is anything else to add to this fault I will come back here to post it.
