Today after work I noticed that the charger was stuck to the car. The only thing that got it removed was forcefully pulling on it. Thankfully nothing appears to be broken. By doing a visual inspection it appears that one of the pins is burnt or corroded. Is the charger plug itself safe to use nothing appears to be wrong with it. But I can always report it to work since I think they own it.

I plan on taking the car to the dealership. Opened a case with ford support ev department.

anyone have experience getting the issue resolved. I’m curious as to what I should expect.

car is 2021 was purchased used and is within full warranty.

Uh, this was a Level 2 charger right? Not a big DC charger?

Yes, you should not charge it again and get it in to the dealer ASAP. They will need to replace your charge port. You will want to notify the charger owner as well and make sure it gets taken offline until the J1772 can be replaced, since it can damage other vehicles' charge ports.

yes it’s a level 2 charger.

the dealership got me worried because they told me it might not be covered under warranty. I gave them the case number Ford support gave.

we will see what they diagnose within 1-2 days

dealership said that the charger is a fault. I thought I read it was a know issue for some Mach E’s. Contacting the charger with the diagnosis to see what they say.

the service manager did say they were going to contact ford engineer for support.

Look in my thread history. I had a similar issue and it was covered under warranty with Ford. A bad connection caused arcing and heat, and a fried pin. I also had the connector replaced through the EVSE manufacturer, Grizzl-e.
