?? From what I’ve seen, most of the Bolt and Niro drivers that hog chargers are ride share drivers. I’ve started to put the blame on Lfty and Uber for offering those cars to the drivers.

For me, one of the upsides of using the Tesla superchargers is that I never see those Bolts and Niros at the SCs. Those rideshare drivers don’t want to spend $200 for an adapter so they stick to the CCS stations.
YES. Bigger problem in the big cities than where I am in the Midwest. But there’s no doubt that ride share - and specialty the lease programs between ride share and rental car companies - are playing havoc with DCFC.

We form informal lines at the super market self check out all the time.
Hmmm… No I don’t think so. Not like what happens in congested parking lots. You get a handful of EVs randomly dotted among ICEs in a parking lot somewhat near the chargers and it become difficult to figure out who was first.

Blaming someone for using a car (poorly designed as it is) as designed seems misplaced.
I am ABSOLUTELY going to blame someone for trying up a “fast charger” for 2+ hours, and so should you. So should all of us. We shouldn’t tolerate this crap. It makes DCFC a bigger nuisance than it needs to be.

We should have a contest to design a sticker which tells people how much slower cars charge past 90%, and to be considerate of others and stop charging past 90% unless you absolutely have to. Something PITHY and easy to understand. I know I would buy a few sheets of a good sticker and do my part to vandalize err spread the PSA on charging terminals.

Agreed: extremely controversial. If it's cold winter storm snowy conditions and I **need** more than 80% charge to reach my destination, this "stop all chargers at 80%" policy would literally threaten my safety.
I drove across WA, ID, and MT over the summer. The farthest distance between chargers was 105 miles. My car never got below 20%. Even in winter I can still drive 200 miles and still have reserve.

This will be controversial. The charging companies know when peak usage times are and holiday travel occurs. They can just stop all chargers at 80%. ( I think EA does this) and charge parking fees something like $30 a minute.

They could also do something app wise where when you arrive you join a queue. When it’s your turn it tells you which charger to go to and won’t turn on for anyone else. Mercedes does some like this at their branded charging stations. You can even reserve a spot route.
I like this idea!

I think some assholes have never been told "no" before in their lives, and by not saying anything, we're letting terrible behaviour continue (and maybe even encouraging and emboldening people). Some may say that it's none of our business - and I certainly don't disagree with anyone having that opinion - but I thank OP for having the nuts to say something.

We live in a society. I know it's easy to lose track of that with eleventy billion people in the world since all of which are apparently out to kill us, but we should not let shitty behaviour continue.

Also, while I 100% agree with having different rates if charging past 80%, but lots of people don't really care about money. Convenience trumps money, and for lots of people, money solves everything. Same thing with idle fees, though I think charging an outrageous rate like $50/second after 3 grace minutes might change some people's behaviour.

(I'm mostly talking about the BMW driver here, though the Bolt and Porsche drivers are annoying as well)

I too, don’t think we should allow bad etiquette or poor behavior to endure. Endorsing this, and allowing it to continue does not promote living kindly in a world with others.

Interesting how people don't all live where you live, isn't it? Everyone is from somewhere, even if you've never been there.

Montana and Idaho have some of the sparsest charging infrastructure in the US but they are still only about 100 miles apart.

Obviously you are forgetting to factor in just how hot she is or isn't! :p

The BMW driver cutting in line is the only real issue. Probably not worth it unless you can come up with some clever way to shame them in real time.
I wish more charging stations had a clear waiting line area. I visit a lot of stations that are in busy parking lots, and there isn't a clear direction of where to wait in line. Sure, considerate drivers are intelligent enough to figure it out if they bother to do so.

I've had someone try to cut in line before, and it makes me so angry. Oddly he was clearly holding a beer (clearly labeled can of beer) when he stepped out of his vehicle and wanted to start a fight. His passenger also had a similar can of beer.

Anywho, lines to queue up would be great.

Sounds like charging stations need a numbered ticket despenser like at the supermarket deli counter. ???
Yeah, great idea, and with that we can have an attendant there enforcing whether your number has actually come up and you are authorized to even approach the charger, yes, brilliant idea! ???
