This past Thursday, the car was at my office, plugged in all day, using the standard Ford charger on a NEMA 5-15. No issues.

Friday AM, I plugged it in at home to top off, same charger, same plug. After about 15 minutes, charging stopped. The light on the charger turned amber, indicating some kind of fault. I tried un- and re-plugging it several times, to no avail. Bringing the charger unit indoors to warm up for a few hours and trying again, it worked briefly, before again shutting down.

This afternoon, I parked it in my in-laws' garage, and plugged it in inside. It remained charging, though at about half the speed it usually does.

Temp lately has been about 10 degrees. The charger seems to be rated to about -30. Could this be a cold weather thing or do I have a faulty unit? I'm calling the dealer Monday, but this is making me anxious in the meantime.

Faulty charger. When they go bad the amber light turns on and they charge slow. The dealer will have to replace under warranty. Just make sure the plug isn't getting too warm because that can cause it too (warm plug means your outlet is bad and needs to be replaced).

Thanks--that makes me feel better. I'm calling it in Monday morning.

When you say plug, do you mean the EVSE-car end or the wall-EVSE end? Neither seems to be getting too warm.

Either can reduce charge rate if they get warm, but the EVSE monitors the wall plug temp and the Mach-E monitors the charge port temp. Amber light is due to either wall plug or internal EVSE overheating.

Hi there, I'd be happy to look into your Mach-E concerns on my end. Will you send us a message with your VIN and dealership info? I can look into things on my end.

Was this ever resolved? Having similar issues and curious if @Ford Motor Company was able to support. Thanks!
