Just picked up my 2021 MME Premium from the dealer after 40,000 mile service. They flushed the brake fluid and when I picked up the car there is a "Check Brake System" error that popped up which I cleared. Turning off and starting the car again returned the same error with an additional "Parking Brake Off" message which also clears. Is this normal behavior for some time after this service or do I need to return to the dealer? Tried to search the forum but couldn't find any similar experiences following fluid service specifically. Thank you!!

I should also add that I had them change out the 12 V battery preemptively during the same service in case that is relevant. thanks for any help!!

No, not normal, they screwed something up.
bummer. Do you have any advice as to what I can tell the service advisor when I bring the car back? is there a potentially a process that they may have not followed by being inexperienced like using the brake service mode? I have loved in my car but most of my issues have come about AFTER bringing in the car for service and recalls because someone didn't follow the proper procedure

Could be air in the lines or a leak. Just tell them what you see as far as errors. They will confirm as well. Did you have the pads or rotors worked on as well? Brake Maintenance Mode is for replacing brake pads.

lol...yes, tell them after they serviced your brakes, you got a DTC, which they should have caught on their final check.

If all they did to your brakes was a fluid bleed, you don't need service mode. If they used FRDS, they likely messed up a setting or got air in the system. Regardless, they need to verify & resolve, it's their screwup.

thank you! No, no work on the brake pads or rotors. Just the fluid. i'll tell them what I see. I love the car, but I hate that I still get nervous to take it in for service because of stuff like this. oh well! will report back in case anyone has this issue in the future.

Why did you even have the brake fluid changed? That isn’t in the scheduled maintenance is it?

my owners manual mentioned to do it every 3 years-- I'm on year 4 and never have done any maintenance on the car so figured it was time

Hmmm. Must be something that changed between the 2021 and 2023 models. The maintenance schedule for my 2023 MME accessed through Ford Pass never calls for a brake fluid change.

Must be! Although I am regretting it now. At the dealer currently and they are telling me that an EV tech won't be available for a while.....it sounds like an EV tech didn't work on my car yesterday either so not sure why it would matter for brake fluid.

This has been widely discussed. Ford app does not show it. Manual does show it, for all years.

If I were you, I'd be looking for a new dealer, or private shop, ASAP....
