CONNECTIVITY ISSUE

as of posting this, it’s been 2 weeks since I purchased my 2021 MME. I have tried various rests to connect the car to the app but still can’t. Reached out to form who told me that my modem seems to be offline. This could be because the first owner of the car never did any updates and now the modem is just stuck. Wanted to reach out to see if anyone has had similar experiences.

Try to pull the fuses for gateway module and TCU and/or pull the negative battery cable for 15+ minutes.

if that doesn’t work then it might need a new modem…

When you say the fuses for the gateway module, are you referring to the ones under the hood or in the passenger side cabin?& Where is the TCU fuse located

The ones in the passenger footwell. In many instances it's better to just pull the negative cable off of the battery for 20 minutes because that forces everything to reboot. You want to make sure that if the car has been awake recently it is allowed to go to sleep again. So, open the frunk lid, pull the trim panels, and let the car sit for 12 minutes before detaching the battery cable. Then let it sit for a little bit and reconnect/reassemble.

Both fuses are in the passenger footwell. TCM is #11, Gateway module is #21. The manual has a diagrams and descriptions of all fuses in the car.

Did that and nothing happened. And I also unplugged the negative and I am now back to square one

Looks to me like the old owner didn’t delete this car from his Ford account. Check with Ford to verify you are showing up as the owner. Make sure you have your title & vin available.

If that's the case, would a system reset clear the prior owner's info?

have done both ford pass rest and master rest and it’s still not letting me connect

Spoke to ford and the customer rep registered the vehicle to me but ford app people still saying it’s under the previous owner

If you look at the top of the screen in the car, does it show signal bars and a little triangle with up and down arrows? Or does it show an X? Are you able to change any connectivity settings in the settings menu?

No to all the above

Then you need a new modem

If the Ford app has the car connected to the previous owner, you will need that removed to connect to the car. The car is talking to the mother ship ok, which is why it is saying you are not authorized.
