Having just sold our 2021 Mach-E after putting 9,438 miles on it (9,449 miles on odometer), I thought it would be fun to compute the ACTUAL cost per mile. We used our free 250kW at EA, and also had some free sessions due to malfunctions and such. We spent $190.48 at EA chargers in multiple states. We spent $3.32 at ChargePoint charges, including a $10 credit for a slow charger. At home, we used 1,339.857kW from the JuiceBox charger. My cost of electricity was ~12.5 cents, recently climbed a little. Let's call it 14 cents for fun. $187.58.
$187.58 + $3.32 + $190.48 = $381.38 or 4.04 cents per mile driven
Let's look at energy. 1,339.857kWh from JB charger, 308.27kWh from ChargePoint chargers including free ones, 1,279 from EA chargers including the free 250KWh, but not including charging that didn't show up (small amount). Total of 2,927.13kWh. 9,438 / 2,927.13 = 3.22miles/kW taken from the wall. If one assumes an 8% overall loss, 9,438 / 2,692.96 = 3.5m/kW. Car, trip #2, showed 3.1mi/kWh lifetime. Note - if you do reverse math, that would mean the car got 351.54kWh free. Don't think so, but who knows. Also shows 3% climate use (from 7/2/21 - 5/16/22), 4% accessories, 1% external temp, and 92% driving.
