I've looked through all the sticky threads and other threads to find the info I'm looking for, but didn't find it. I'm wanting to understand what the typical progress is for orders. Something like this (t minus, just like a rocket countdown):

t-0 weeks = at dealer for customer pickup
t-a weeks = built, awaiting shipment to dealer
t-b weeks = production started
t-c weeks = vin number generated
t-d weeks = email sent with estimated build week
t-e weeks = order placed.

a, b, c, d and e above are integers for the number of weeks until vehicle is at dealer.

I've seen folks post "I ordered on day X, and just now got the scheduled production week", but I'm wondering if there is a more detailed breakdown. I know the "t-e" dates have come down significantly recently and are estimated to be 6-8 weeks on the Ford order site.

Based on some other posts here, I think it varies by the various options you pick. I have seen people in the 3/20 build week threads that ordered well before me yet we shared the same build week, but they didn't go with the GT like I did (and some of those were even bumped later).

My car just shipped so I don't know when "t" is yet, but here is how mine has gone so far:

12/2 Order confirmed
1/19 Car scheduled for production (week of 3/20) - ~7 weeks after order
3/22 Order updated email (nothing seemed to have changed*)
3/24 Car in production - 16 weeks after order
3/25 Car built
3/27 Car shipped (estimated delivery 4/14-4/20**) - ~16.5 weeks after order
?/?? Car delivered to dealer - estimated ~19 weeks after order

* Ford has two different pages that list various statuses, and they don't always align. Up until this point, I was only looking at the "My Reservations, Orders and Purchases" page. Looking at the vehicle order tracking page, the scheduled build shows "week of 3/23" (the other page still showed 3/20) and maybe that is what updated.

** This date range is from the "My Reservations, Orders and Purchases" page. The vehicle order tracking gives a wider range of 4/11-4/24.

I think the current timelines are going to be pretty varied. Mine is as follows:

2023 Star White Premium SR RWD
Order placed & confirmed: 10/19/22
Scheduled for production: 2/9/23
Production date: Week of 4/10/23
Shipped: ???
Delivered: ???

I spoke with my dealer today - they expect to receive it mid-May.

I suspect (but need more data) that the time between VIN creation and the MME to be built is a small time frame. Probably the most time is spent waiting for parts (the delay in setting a production week and late production week) or during shipment to the dealer. Both of those things are out of Ford's control.

The Ford order site says 6-8 weeks for delivery. For me MME GTPE with pony package, 8 weeks would be May 1st.

Global logistics are hard. :)

I received my email from Ford on 9 Feb which had both my VIN and my scheduled build week of 24 Apr. I thought bit interesting to get the VIN 10 weeks before production. I don't think there is a defined sequence of steps with t minus estimates. It would be nice, but I don't think it exists. And I do think the times are different based on Basel model + RWD/AWD + ER/SR

My experience is similar to @65MustangBoy

My Timeline is as follows:
  • 11/25/22 - Ordered Premium, Rapid Red, Standard Range, Rear-Wheel Drive, and Interior Protection Package. I ordered it at my dealer, not online.
  • 12/30/22 - Updated Order. Changed color to Grabber Blue (less expensive) and dumped the Interior Protection Package when IRS set the tax credit limit (later changed) at $55K MSRP for cars delivered after January 1, 2023. I was just a few hundred dollars over the limit and wanted to get the price down.
  • 1/31/23 - Updated Order. When Ford dropped the prices on all MMEs, I went back to Rapid Red, added back the Interior Protection Package, and upgraded to All-Wheel Drive.
  • 2/9/23 - Received e-mail informing me of a Build Week of 4/17/23 and VIN.
  • 3/16/23 - Build Week date bumped six days to 4/22/23. Odd, because this is a Saturday date and I have never seen another Build Week date listed on this site that wasn't a Monday. Also, I never received an e-mail notifying me of this change. I saw it on the Ford website when I checked on my order status.
That's it! I'm hoping it will be built on time and delivered by mid-June. If these earlier turnaround dates for delivery of the week of March 20 builds hold up, maybe I'll see it in late May.
