Dashcam Recommendations

Has anyone purchased and installed the Dashcam with Rear Facing camera from the ford accessories site? What are your impressions? Did you install it or have the dealer install it?

Anyone recommend a different camera?

I got 3,000 FordPass points from Ford after they dropped the price of the GT two days after I bought it, so I picked up this Thinkware dashcam from the Ford accessories site.

I attempted to install it myself, but gave up and had a dealership install it after realizing I was going to have to disassemble the center console to get to power.

Overall I'm very happy with the dashcam. The front facing camera is fantastic at 4K, but the rear camera is only 1080p. At that price point it's pretty ridiculous to have a 1080p rear camera, so that's my only complaint. It mounts perfectly behind the rear view mirror (from driver perspective), so I never see it which I LOVE.

It has motion/impact monitoring while parked, and speed/GPS locations. The app isn't anything to write home about, but it's easy to use and gets the job done.

Admittedly I'm not sure I would have purchased this if I wasn't using "free" points from Ford (and certainly not from their marked up accessories website), but I really am happy with it.
