DCFC rip-off variable pricing at Tesla stations via Plugshare

With the formal announcement that Ford EV vehicles are now allowed to charge at Tesla V3 stations-including those without Magic Docks-I took a look at prices. Wow! Minocqua, Wisconsin Tesla's location charges: ,23cents for 0-60kW, .47 for 60-100kW, .76 for 100-180kW, $1.25 for 180-250kW plus idle fees up to 1.00 minute. Meijer 's Supercharger location is: 60-100kW 25 cents, 60-100kW is .51, 100-180kW is 82 cents, 180-250kW is $1.35. No mention of idle fees. Checking other Wisconsin Tesla locations with V3/250KW rates in Sturgeon Bay-Appleton-Fond du Lac- Madison Whitney Way and Lake Delton did not reveal variable pricing rates., I have not personally charged at any of these locations. While those adaptors will make road tripping easier it might not be cheaper.

I for one am happy to pay for reliable charging on a road trip. 51 weeks of the year I pay 4¢ per Kilowatt hour charging off peak at home. That more than makes up for higher DCFC charging prices during that one week.

I think 23 cents for up to 60kW is cheap! That looks like just under a 70% total capacity of a Mach’s battery. Soin most cases looks like charge and go on the fast curve.

That is 23 cents per 60kW (rate is slow) as long or short of a duration as you desire. Variable rate may be related to demand charges.

How do you tell your MME to charge at a slow 60kW rate when you pull in at 20% state of charge?

There is no way to downrate DCFC speed in an MME. The vehicle always attempts to charge at the fastest rate possible.

Sounds like those rates are per minute instead of per KWH. Some states you cannot charge for electricity by the KWH unless you are a power utility company. So charging stations charge by the minute instead.

My understanding from what I see in the Tesla app is that these are indeed rates dependent on charging speed - so kW (not kWH).

The charging fee varies from location to location. The Escanaba Michigan Supercharger has variable pricing but 147 miles east at Mackinaw City, Michigan, it is a flat 49 cents per kWh.

Yes, prices vary depending on location. The closest one to where I live is dependent on the time you go there to charge. I have not gone there since I can charge at home a lot cheaper and I do not have the adapter yet anyway.
