So after patiently waiting for my order for 4 months, I started seeing Mach-E that fit my built on the lots. So after confirming there will be no dealer markup, I went into the dealer (different from the one that I ordered from) to finalize the deal. It was all smiles until they show me a piece of paper with OTD 10K extra. Besides the extra warranty, the incorrect sales tax, there was this 3rd party, aftermarket lifetime protection for the 12V battery and key fob. They claimed it's already in the car and is not optional. Is this common? I assume that my pre-ordered car won't show up with this BS add-on. Just curious.
My dealer tried to do the same, but with a $5K markup and other extras. It took telling them "no" several times, but they eventually revoked their greed.

Note that you can also negotiate on warranty cost, even though they'll tell you that it's impossible. Just hang in there.

I suspect you are correct. Mine was pre-ordered. I still got hit with a $1000 markup I honestly didn't catch, I feel suckered for it. The finance manager said everyone has to pay that fee, that it's for all the little people that contribute to the car. It's obviously BS but I had signed before noticing it (how that happened, I have no idea). But no other markups. Dealers are still scum bags and until Ford's ultimatum of "no markups or you'll get no cars" is carried through, we're gonna still have this fight on our hand. The problem is of course, leverage. Right now with the car market the way it is, the "walk away" tactic doesn't work to well cause there will be someone in the next day that would take the car. In my case, if i would have refused the car, even after a 6 month wait, the dealer would have happier than a pig in mud. They could then jack up the price by 10K and sell it to the first poor soul off the street. So my positive spin on my mistake is that I might have saved some other guy from getting massively screwed by the dealer. BTW, my dealer was Brandon Ford in FL.

Tell them you'll be back to buy a car from them during their going out of business sale if this is their business practice.
Honestly the showroom is just big enough for one MME plus 4 or 5 desks. I really don't know what kind of operation this was, feels like amature hour. I am considering some alternatives, but Tesla feels boring, Ford and Kia dealers left a bad taste in my mouth, whats left? IONIQ 5?

Shop around. There are lots of good Ford dealerships out there and there’s quite a bit of inventory as well. Deals are to be had.

how was your experience there? Was yours a special order like mine or did you buy it off the lot?
I bought it off the lot. I had called around to several Ford dealers in the area and Brandon was the only dealer that had non-GTs in stock. As a matter of fact, it was the only non-GT Brandon had. My experience dealing with the sales guy and finance manager were good. They didn’t try to do a hard sell nor did they try to upsell me on things. The sales guy was upfront about a 3k markup on the vehicle.

I do wish that they offered the vehicle pickup service for maintenance that other Ford dealerships in the area are offering. I need to have my tires rotated but I don’t want to take the vehicle.

As a public service why not name the dealer?

Some dealers still play these games. Some are straight-forward. It sounds like you ran into a game player. Tell them ”no thanks” and find another dealer. If this dealer’s sales guy is throwing all that at you, their finance guy is going to really burn you. ??

I vote for the BMW i4. That is what I would get if tax credit is not put into consideration.

Happy ending. I found one with my exact spec (unlike like the last one). Applied for bank financing in person, then had someone talk me through the steps over the phone. Picked up the car the next day, in and out under an hour, drove off with a placeholder loan from Ford finance (5.59% as advertised). Buying a new car should be a joyful experience even knowing that it's a stupid financial decision. I just wish more dealers are like the second one.

Edit: of course it's MSRP, if anyone was wondering.
